Per Roto wire:

Free agent FS Jairus Byrd is reportedly seeking an average annual salary of at least $9 million per season.

That would make Byrd the highest paid safety in the game. Dashon Goldson got a five-year, $41.25 million deal from the Bucs a year ago, Eric Weddle signed a five-year, $40 million deal with the Chargers in 2011 and Eric Berry's rookie deal will pay him $8.41 million in 2014. Byrd is a good bet to get what he wants thanks to the rapidly rising salary cap and growing need for an elite center fielder in today's NFL. The Browns and former Bills defensive coordinator Mike Pettine could show interest.

So 40+ million for a safety? You in?

Yes and yes. I would give him 5 years 45 million. I feel he is worth that. But what the hell do I know? If you feel he is the best FS in the game, which most believe he is, then you have no choice but to pay him in the 40-that illion dollar range. Why are Weddle and Berry worth that but not Byrd?

We are going to be aggressive in getting a FS, not sure we'll be successful though. That and a DT.

Good to know, like I said I would be happy with either Ward or Byrd. No idea which DT though. Anyone got a list of the FA DTs?

Champ Bailey was released, would he finish his career where it started?

Well, he will be playing safety where ever he goes...but as others said, too old and slow now.

We need someone like Byrd, Ward or Mitchell at that spot. Experimenting with rookies and cast-offs hasn't worked, time to get a proven star there.

Somewhat surprised that we are going strong after a DT. I'm guessing Joseph is the target? Is the plan to move Cofield to DE if that's the case? Also could be an indication of what the plan is at LB. A 2 gap 3-4 DL is supposed to be a space eater and free LB up to make tackles. Maybe the plan isn't to invest heavily at ILB and hope to get by with a veteran and a draft pick with the expectation they will be kept clean by the DL.

Any rumblings about priorities on the offensive side?

I dont think Weddle or D Gholston are worth their contracts.

The reasoning behind DT aggressiveness: Is Coefield gonna be playing DE alot? or are we gonna to a 4-3 look more often? Thanks SS

At this point I want the Linval Joseph, Brandon Spikes, and Malcolm Jenkins/T.J. Ward Combination.

Did anyone see @Jsteelznskins reporting that Tanard Jackson will be reinstated? LOL

Add in a helping of Andre Roberts and Austin Howard and I would be quite satisfied with that.
