you guys keep saying 'fix'. there is no fix, the NFL is legally allowed to manipulate games as they choose because they are an entertainment business as government has said so.

the Pats made it to a conference championship last year with 14 signed rookies. I'm sorry but Brady and Belichick aren't that good LOL and its their 14th year of success including the SB with the Packers before the 14 year run.

Then why are you a fan? What's the point of fandom if it is all determined in a smoky back room?

Why would they manipulate to give one team a 14 year run? What other teams would approve of that? Where is the head of the manipulation, and what is it's designed goal. Certainly it would be more entertaining to watch Belicheck fall from the heights, or Brady get stood up on the field and then by Giselle.

The NFL probably could do it if it wanted, but fans and media would root it out, and the NFL would lose it's fan base. Heck when spygate came out, there was a huge outcry, and when they put in bad refs the fans outrage at the poor officiating certainly played a role in bringing the regular officials (bad as they can be) back to the field.

The NFL has a high value product by letting the human forces of the team game play out on the field. It would be a fool's errand to increase a small percentage of entertainment value at the expense of the (pretty strong) integrity of the game.

To many people would have to keep their pie hole zipped. That's the only reason I'm not a believer. Same with the Kennedy conspiracy theory. If more than one is involved or gets pinched they always talk. Httr.

Easy to tell that you have never played the game yourself . Look I don't know if you lost a lot of money or play to much madden but I think the thread should be locked .

People can convince themselves (and others) of just about anything these days. See Jenny McCarthy and the whole anti-vaccine BS.

This. I think it would be naive to believe at some point in time, some people didn't get together to conspire to fix a game, and I'm sure it's happened. But going WWE style and fixing every match all the way to the SB? Lol. That's just insanity.

I go to work laughing my ass off at the tin-foil hat crowd and come back to see that it's still going strong. Brilliant!

Can a game be influenced by a Ref, manager/coach or player? Sure. Does it happen? Probably. Is it really, really, bad for the sports' "entertainment business" if it does? Yup. Because of that, when it is discovered do bad things happen to the cheaters? Yup.

Donaghy sentenced to 15 months in prison in gambling scandal - NBA - ESPN (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3509440)

[Last I checked - Pete Rose, Shoeless Joe, still banned from MLB HOF]

Is there some conspiracy by the Elders of NFL Zion to script the outcomes of any games? Bring something to the table beyond speculative conclusions based on convenient circumstances sited out of context (i.e. - A youtube clip is no longer viewable - I guess that is the only NFL related clip that's been removed in the last 10 years or so. Similarly, for every "magical" event cited there are hundreds of similar events in games each season at which no one bats an eye). Manipulated coincidences, Unsupported allegations and self-serving statements by exposed cheaters are the meat and potatoes of stupid people eager to believe bad things happen b/c shadow groups run the world.

Truly - conspiracy theorists are some of the best entertainment around. Unfortunately, the fact that initially makes them so damn funny - they take themselves so damn seriously - is the same thing that eventually makes them so incredibly tiresome. I feel like saying to them:

"Okay, Okay! That was a seriously funny joke the first six times I heard it. I mean, milk up my nose funny! However, its been six weeks, can you please stop shouting it at the top of your lungs every day during my lunch hour? Please?"

what conspiracy ? the league is an entertainment business and allowed to bend games as they choose. The Government recognizes them as such.

Brilliant legal analysis.

Wait, let me guess. You stayed at a Holiday Inn recently.
