For Washington, where FedEx Field opened in 1997, the time is approaching for a new venue. Owner Daniel Snyder tells CSN Washington that the team has “started the process” of planning for a new home.

“Whether it’s Washington, D.C., whether it’s another stadium in Maryland, whether it’s a stadium in Virginia, we’ve started the process,” Snyder said. “We are going to push forward. We’ve started meeting with architectural firms. We are in the process of developing because it is a long term that you do it.”

Snyder says the new stadium would have a throwback look and feel.

“We’ve already seen some preliminary drawings and I’m going to be very retro with it,” Snyder said. “It’s gonna feel like RFK. It’s gonna move like RFK. I love that, I actually asked architectural firms to do it and they said that they can do it. I said that I think the lower bowl sections are going to want to rock the stadium like the old days.”

would love a stadium that rocked like RFK!! . . . thoughts??

No matter how constructed, a stadium won't rock like the winning old days until we...win.

What capacity would people want? Personally I would say 70000 in hopes of fewer opposing fans. And I would like the name sponsor to be Red. Man Chew. And the field to be named Little Bighorn stadium.

Anything is better than Fedex...

Okay when did stadiums become so disposable? San Diego, Buffalo, and St. Louis need new stadiums. There was a point early last decade where every NFL team in Pennsylvania needed a new stadium. Dallas desperately needed a new stadium before moving into AT&T Stadium.

I swear Hollywood marriages are starting to look like the pinnacle of stability when compared to NFL stadiums these days.

I can't wait, but I'm not holding my breath. With the lease on Fedex that they will have to fight to get out of, combined with the sad state of financial affairs everywhere (read: Dan Snyder gonna have to put hella funds down to finance this) and the lack of good locations (other than RFK) means it'll definitely be a few years before we see anything happen. And I'll put good odds on one of these asshats in politics trying to convince Dan Snyder that they'll put a nice chunk of change down for the stadium if he agrees to change the name.

I'm more interested in finding out who is paying for it.

Also sounds like Snyder is trying to bring a Super Bowl to DC.

DC isn't having it. It'll most likely be in northern VA. I hope for your all sakes that the taxpayers don't foot the bill. Knowing Danny, he's going to sucker you all into buying his new house of cash.

I think every NFL owner does this, so it's not just a Snyder thing.

JKC didn't.

Also, I say the same things when those stadiums are built too.
