SmootSmack 12-27-2014, 01:03 PM I don't know what "real GM" or "competent GM" necessarily means. I just know that the Team President and Team GM shouldn't be the same person. It's just too much for one person
So yeah they should resolve
As, if not more, important in my opinion is solving the QB issue. Trade RG3, trade Kirk, whatever. I just think they need to decide once and for all who they're going with moving forward
SirLK26 12-27-2014, 02:18 PM Not having a "QB coach" isn't that big of a deal to me. Gruden was hired at least in part because of his success developing Dalton, so he's always going to be hands on, more so than a lot of head coaches with their QB. And then we have McVay, who basically serves as a QB coach along with his OC duties. How many different coaches do the QBs need?
Anyway, I think Gruden wants a big hand in developing his QBs. Not sure he would even want a QB coach.

All year long we've suffered from poor QB play, no matter who was under center. Something needs to change there, like having a real, dedicated QB coach.

But is that Gruden's fault? Maybe he just needs more time to develop these guys... if they're even worth developing. This is his first year here after all.
I wouldn't be opposed to the idea, just don't think it's necessary.

Yeah I mean Gruden and McVay both work closely with the QBs, on Sundays you always see McVay right there with them on the bench. I don't think it's a huge thing to not have a dedicated "QB coach".
Lotus 12-27-2014, 02:42 PM Well, you guys have it as you want. But given than every one of our QB's has underexcelled this year, to me the situation screams for a fix.
SmootSmack 12-27-2014, 02:43 PM I think they need a QB coach. Just about every team has one except the Redskins.
Jay Gruden and Sean McVay are both "rookies" in their respective coaching positions. To add on the responsibilities and pressures they have as is with spending dedicated time with two young QBs seems like a bit too much for me.
diehardskin2982 12-27-2014, 07:29 PM ^ I agree, a QB coach that can focus on mechanics, go through read progression, etc. is important. Zorn made the same mistake about the QB coach thing. As the head coach you are like the CEO setting the overall strategy, you need the manage all parts. You don't have the time to focus on one position.
My dream scenario:
1. AJ Smith moves to head of scouting department VP. Fire Scott Campbell and steal Dan Morgan to be take Scott's old position. Bruce still in president role because he is a good buffer for Dan Snyder.
2. Fire Haz. spend a boat load of money to hire Kirby Smart, Ken Norton Jr., Mike Singletary, Wade Phillips, or Jim Mora Jr to be assistant HC-DC.
3. Hire a QB Coach.
4. Trade Kirk Cousins- We committed to RG3 the day we drafted him and paid a kings ransom. Gruden was hired to develop Robert. We need to commit to him and focus on making him grow as a NFL QB.
5. Build through the draft by focusing on players with a track record of success.

jay gruden disagrees with you and thinks that the redskins need a QB coach.
I think being a rookie and being the HC/OC/QB coach is just too much to juggle at once. otherwise he might have adjusted the offense to his players sooner and griffin could have had better fundamentals (notice: could, not necessarily would).
also, i don't think you can really trade kirk for much at this point, maybe a 7th or a conditional? I wish we moved him when we could have gotten a 3rd.
That Guy 12-27-2014, 09:42 PM I just need to know who will be on the team next year.....or two
Jersey....purchase has become a precarious undertaking
that's why you only buy retired players. if you want something newer than green/monk, you can go with cooley/taylor/portis. safest bets on the team right now are kerrigan/williams, then morris.
