I don't care who it is, I just want to know if we're going to run a 3-4 or 4-3 defense next year.
Any thoughts?

Gruden fires defensive coordinator Joe BarryChief X_Phackter 01-06-2017, 03:49 PM I don't care who it is, I just want to know if we're going to run a 3-4 or 4-3 defense next year. Any thoughts? Buffalo Bob 01-06-2017, 03:51 PM Barry shouldn't have been hired in the first place. It was a country club hire. He never had the talent to make it work anyway. But his inability to be aggressive and stay passive with below average talent was what did it for me. If you have scrubs you have to be able to scheme things up and he seemed to never be able to do that. The 3rd and longs that were always converted also were probably his downfall. I hope Gruden hires the best person that's out there, and not one of his Tampa or Cincy buddies. I don't understand how you hire a guy whose only previous experience as an NFL defensive coordinator resulted in a 0-16 season. metalskins 01-06-2017, 03:56 PM Ian Rapoport Verified account @RapSheet #Redskins asked for permission to speak with #Panthers assistant HC & DBs coach Steve Wilks for their DC job, source said. CAR granted it Might also be the Rooney rule, but Wilks seems to be well liked and really helped to shape Josh Norman, so who knows? MTK 01-06-2017, 04:13 PM I can't even believe how many times we need to keep saying that it doesn't fucking matter whether we are a 3-4 or 4-3 base. Last year we played in a 4-3 more often than we played in a 3-4. I'm hoping we switch just so we can stop hearing about this complete non issue. MTK 01-06-2017, 04:14 PM I don't understand how you hire a guy whose only previous experience as an NFL defensive coordinator resulted in a 0-16 season. To be fair you can't pin that all on him. If you go 0-16 you've got problems all over the place starting with a big time lack of talent. mredskins 01-06-2017, 05:56 PM Jim Haslet was a HC before he came to DC as well. Just sayin I think Barry was worst then Haslet. Schneed10 01-06-2017, 06:03 PM I think Barry was worst then Haslet. It's not even close, he was way worse. skinsfaninok 01-06-2017, 07:36 PM Honestly it cant be any worse.. Joe Barry just isn't cut out for that role, even in his pressers he sounded like he didn't have the IT factor.. Glad REX said no, hopefully it's going to be Gus's job warriorzpath 01-06-2017, 09:24 PM Too bad Gregg Williams couldn't come back as DC. He would the best choice to me. Everywhere he went, he had a good defense. Very aggressive and very creative. Only bad thing with the Rams defense that Williams had trouble with - was they had issues with the Cowboys and Redskins o lines, led by Callaghan. SolidSnake84 01-06-2017, 10:45 PM Saw where Guenther(spelling?) From the Bengals was denied an interview with the Redskins for DC?? Experts on here tell me something: What would stop a guy from just quitting the team to sign on wherever they were offered the job? Is it just NFL etiquette? or could the bengals sue him or something..... |
