Takeaways for me: Great commitment by Gruden for sticking to the run today, it paid off in the end. Maybe they could start to use a little more play action once the d adjusts and puts 8 in the box though, but then again maybe we didn't because Kirk doesn't trust Pryor/Grant. Grant only made 1 play today, but that was a hell of a play, way to make it count. Great job by our depth guys stepping up, seemed like it was a revolving door of injury today. Hope Fat Rob isn't out too long. Clutch play by Mason at the end there, reading the inexperienced qb's eyes and not even allowing them the chance to gain a little momentum. Jay Gruden, idk why you have such a hard on for the fade, but it cost us 7 points in the first q and a chance to blow the game open. Idk that we've converted a single one of those in your years, you need to abandon that shit until Kirk/whoever he trusts can consistently execute in practice. McVay gets some respek from me, everything I saw from Goff indicated he was doomed last year and he was very solid until the end, minus the strip sack from Kerrigan where he didn't realize the pocket was collapsing. Also respek for Todd Gurley, I know he's cooled off since the hot start to his career but I trust McVay will be able to turn it around for him again. Shouts out to the o-line for really stepping up today against a good Rams defensive front. Lauvao in particular, I still don't think he can do it consistently but he shut me up today. J.No gets a shoutout for twice punching the ball out from Todd Gurley, I wanted one of these ball punchers for years that really knows how to punch balls and now we have one. I suspect it will take some time for Kirk and whoever his top two receivers end up being to gel, but it ain't a good look for Pryor to have 3 drops in 2 games. Hard for a qb to trust you when you are only consistent at dropping the ball. I hope for Pryor's sake it's just growing pains and he learns to look the ball in his hands. He's got the talent, if he can't put it together by the end of the year his career here won't last long. Dude with all these injuries, I'm really hoping we can add a starter in Cravens mooby 09-17-2017, 11:27 PM Damn, not sure how much popping your shoulder back into the joint hurts but props to Foster for fighting through it to stay in the game. Hope the rest of our guys are ok or in Fat Rob's case aren't out too long. I also forgot to give a shoutout for playing a home game in LA today. I could hear the support when we were scoring td's. Way to rep us in LA Skins fans. skinsfan69 09-17-2017, 11:53 PM Outside of the fade calls I thought Gruden called a great game. He must have looked at the game film from the last time we played the Rams. For now that needs to be the game plan. Stay committed to the run. Not sure why there's so much hate for KC in the game thread. He and the wr's are obviously not in sync. He missed some but he also hit some and had a flat out dropped possible td to Thompson. He managed the game and didn't turn the ball over. That was good enough today. D is improved. Some of the guys like Smith are just playing better than they were last year. punch it in 09-18-2017, 12:09 AM The way we came out and dominated in the trenches it should have been over by half. Still major red zone issues. It is actually getting weird at this point. We get inside the 20 and I panic. A win is a win though. Hell these guys beat the Niners last week by like 50? Niners lost to Seattle by 3 today? I know that means nothing but I am trying to get a handle on this team. The D looks much better especially safety and corners. Maybe Gruden learned how valuable running the fucking ball can be today. Honestly I can see 4-12 in this teams future. I can also see 10-6. Primetime next week - at least we won't be 0-3. irish 09-18-2017, 06:54 AM Outside of the fade calls I thought Gruden called a great game. To me the real problem of those failed fade calls was that they appeared to give the Rams confidence that they were still in the game. At that point the Rams looked terrible and completely beaten. The Skins were poised to go up big and have a potential blow out. Instead the Skins throw 2 terrible passes, and settle for a FG, the Rams pop a big play and the game ends up going down to the wire. I guess JG called a good game but to me those two lousy calls early in the game turned what should have been an easy win into a nail-biter. They get away with that vs a lousy Rams team but not against better teams. Skins4L 09-18-2017, 06:57 AM Matchup for matchup I had us down to win this one and bounce back after last weeks loss. It didn't look how I thought it would offensively beside the obvious battle with theyre mean front 8. Trent would rather give up a hold I saw on one play rather than let cousins get blasted by Aaron Donald. on to Oakland. Which is more of a defensive test. Kirk doesn't seem to be in shootout mode yet but the guy is always ready to light it up. Might be another slow one for the offense. |
