Butting heads over who's right and wrong is senseless. We have people on both extremes of the issues and the truth probably falls somewhere in the middle. Let's leave it at that and move on.
Basically, it all starts with PortisMTK 11-03-2005, 08:57 AM Butting heads over who's right and wrong is senseless. Southpaw 11-03-2005, 09:53 AM I assume that quote is directed at me, since I have often said that Clinton Portis hasn't quite lived up to expectations. By the way, Moss had a relatively 'quiet' day, maybe it's a 'bad game' by his standards with only 4 catches for 34 yards. Did you hear me or anyone else calling for his head? Right. I didn't think so. Actually, I wasn't talking about any one person in particular, but if it was you that made that comment about Portis, that's probably where I got it. And my point with the Moss comment was just to point out that in general, the vibe on this board is a player is "overrated" if he's high payed and not performing in the top five at his position. Southpaw 11-03-2005, 11:23 AM How ignorant can you be I have been saying it for a year and a half, the fact is you have offered no solution other than Lavar, Portis, Samuels, and Brunell are great and deserve the money they are getting because we would have paid someone else who can't play that kind of money so might as well be them. The fact is teams who know what they are doing personel wise do it through the draft so they don't blow the roof off their cap, so they do have enough money to add the right veteran to put the team over the hump. I don't think one person said that any of those players are worth the money they're being paid. Most of us have just learned to accept the fact that our franchise's current owner is going to give insanely large contracts to whoever the hell he wants, with no regard to actual market value. All of your comments are basically just a stab at Snyder and his loose checkbook, but really, what's the point? Bashing Snyder is like shooting fish in a barrel. You make the comment that "good teams do this and that", but when was the last time that this was a "good team", especially on the organizational level? And as far as building the team through the draft, maybe you don't recall, but we drafted Arrington and Samuels. offiss 11-03-2005, 05:07 PM I don't think one person said that any of those players are worth the money they're being paid. Truthfully I like Snyder, and I believe the current problems with the big 4 are Gibbs responsiblity, I am one of the few who is behind Snyder big time, we are fortuanate enough to have an owner who will do whatever he has to to win, there are plenty of teams who don't have that kind of dedication at the top, we do, we just have to show more wisdom with how we go about it, and that's just my opinion. As for the draft, there are many more success stories than failures, plenty of first and second rd talent have gone bust, but there are plenty of players from the third rd. on going to the hall of fame as well. |
