Allen believes TW will sign on time
I hope that the Skins find a way to get TW in before the opening of camp. We have one of the later start dates, that ought to help them as well.

Re: Allen believes TW will sign on time
This is good news and I hope that it is accurate. I have assumed that getting this deal done was a top priority, and this confirms it. I am glad we have at least heard something regarding TW's contract status. The Warpath, The Team, and Trent himself knows that we must get this done soon so he is on time.
Hail! 8 days till players report.

Re: Allen believes TW will sign on time
I don't think Trent or the Redskins can really be blamed for a deal not getting done. According to Mike and Mike this morning, NO 1st round picks have signed yet because they're waiting to see how the new CBA will be structured. Teams just aren't sure how these rookie contracts will affect them going forward.
I have no doubts he'll be here, somehow. He and the team understands Trent's importance to this team in 2010.

Re: Allen believes TW will sign on time
It's important to note Williams does not want to miss time. They'll get a deal done without him missing anything significant.

Re: Allen believes TW will sign on time
Do the rookies report on the 28th or do they report with the rest of the team on the 29th?

Re: Allen believes TW will sign on time
At least we have Jamaal Brown to start the season at LT if Williams does miss time and needs to be at RT initially.
It's vital we get him in on time though, we need him to be the LT. You don't draft a RT at #4, unless you already have an elite LT...like the Jets have been doing with their draft picks, building a line of all 1st-rounders.

Buster: " According to Mike and Mike this morning, NO 1st round picks have signed yet because they're waiting to see how the new CBA will be structured. "
How can the rookies and teams wait to see how the new CBA will be structured? They won't get that done between now and training camp opening. Buster this is not a jab at you, it just does not make much sense to wait this long when the deal won't be done and the rookie pay scale may or may not be in the next CBA. I know that Hasell said it is something they want to get done, but you can't gaurentee it will be in place come April 2011. Just get these deals done and get the guys in camp operating off of the same basis they have for years. The Player, Agents and GMs can change all this next offseason not now.

Re: Allen believes TW will sign on time
I was thinking the same thing. If this is what the teams are putting out there, then I guess there will either be no rookies signed or the CBA will be done in about a week or two. They'll all sign but they are probably trying to see just how much money they can get. The NFL really needs to get some kind of slotted salary system for the draftees.

Re: Allen believes TW will sign on time
Yeah, the negotiations may be a little more tricky than years past but will get done [deleted] The article gave what I believe a good basis for TW's contract, that is last year's 4th overall, and the 1st and 2nd OT drafted last year.

Yes, they were also talking about Brady and Manning...but it's common knowledge they're not getting deals until after Bradford's numbers are finalized. Backup for what I heard/said: Quote:

Re: Allen believes TW will sign on time
Three of the top four draft picks share the same agent based on that TW would be the last to sign of the three.

Re: Allen believes TW will sign on time
I know they talked about draft picks. When they spoke with D. Smith about contracts not having been signed due to CBA uncertainty, they were not talking about draft picks. When D Smith spoke about draft picks not having signed he actually alluded to collusion being a factor.
After D. Smith left, Greenberg mentioned that Bill Polian has said one of the hold ups in Manning's new contract is uncertainty on the new CBA, and when they spoke about Russell and the other draft picks it was again more about D. Smiths suggestion that collusion might be in play. Greenberg did say that the CBA uncertainty is playing a factor in everything, but they weren't saying draft picks had not signed due to CBA uncertainty.
