Re: Report: Redskins Have Traded for Jammal Brown

Probably going to have to be draft pick compensation.

This move makes our line a lot better for 2010, and in theory, we'll come to a long term agreement with our RT of the future, and have our OT tandem of the next three or four seasons. Still, draft pick compensation is probably going to be fairly significant. I'd imagine it includes our second rounder, since we don't know if we will have either our third or fourth next year.

On second thought, I think it would have been out of character for BA to pull the trigger on this if it was going to cost a 2nd rounder in next year's draft. Maybe a 2nd in 2012 and a 5th in 2011?

Wow. Okay so starting 5:

LT T. Williams
LG D. Dockery
C Rabach
RG M. Williams
RT J Brown

A Hicks off the bench. I can live with that.

Schefter is hinting that the Redskins are planning to put Jamaal Brown at LT and Trent Williams at RT, which makes very little sense to me for any number of reasons. If Williams is the LT of the future, he shouldn't have to wait to take over at LT until year 3 or whatever.

If he's not the LT of the future, we're going to need someone better than Jamaal Brown anyway to handle the position.

So after they fidget around for a bit, I hope the final product looks like your line above, hopefull with Rinehart winning the job over BMW.

Hardly. That just means we have one solid veteran and the superstar rook as starters. Our depth is horrid at offensive line. Except for Trent and now Jamaal, our line is a bunch of scrubs.

Really? I think we have to much depth right now. Rabach is a solid center, same with Dockery at LG. At RG we could easily get another solid starter in Artis Hicks, or possibly a huge return on BMW. Personally I think that BMW can be on par with Leonard Davis, but that's just me. Either way worst case scenario you have Artis Hicks as your starting RG.

As for the depth. This is my favorite part of the line, no longer will we have to rely on D'Anthony Batiste or Will 'Danger Jason Campbell' Robinson. Let's look at the contenders.

Kory Lichtensteiger - A fourth round pick by Shanahan two years ago that was cut because he didn't fit Denver's new Power Blocking scheme. It's not uncommon to find starting Centers in rounds 3-5. He'll eventually replace Rabach.

Selvish Capers - Projected as high as the second round. Has all the physical tools to succeed in a zone blocking scheme, and now he'll most likely have a little more time to develop. Some of Shanahan's best lineman have come from the 7th round of the draft.

Eric Cook - Love his size. Played Center, Guard, and LT in college. Again Shanahan has found guys that can play up front in the 7th round before. I wouldn't expect him to play this year but wouldn't be scared if he was forced into duty.

Artis Hicks - Solid veteran that can play Guard or Tackle.

Chad Rinehart - Apparently started to show promise last year before he got injured. It'll be interesting to see how he plays this year. He's certainly got the athleticism Shanahan likes seeing how he played LT last year. At the same time he could easily get cut but thats because more then anything we're deep at OL this year.

Edwin Williams - Might be the Taylor Jacobs of the offensive line in that he was considered great in practice. However at the same time he did earn praise last year and could easily make the final roster

Stephon Heyer - I'm not to high on him anymore especially with our situation at Tackle now but the fact of the matter is he has played well in the past and he does have starting experience.

If that isn't depth I don't what is. Either way the offensive line is fixed from a talent standpoint. Now the only things left is to see how fast everyone can gel. I wish Buge's got a chance to coach this line, God knows he deserved a group like this.

Re: Report: Redskins Have Traded for Jammal Brown

Especially if it was that 4th we got in 2012 for JC. That'd basically be like giving away JC for Jammal Brown. I'd love that deal, even though I kinda feel that Jammal Brown is injury prone.
