Re: The line is quite offensive right now
Unfortunately, I think we have a need to go into free agency to pick up our O-line needs. I think we need a QB too badly with our 1st pick and don't want to bank on anything but a first rounder to start. I think we need to sign patch job guys though, not long term deals. So we can draft our o-linemen for years to come

Great point Trample - I for one hope Synder sees some sort of light and brings in a new GM and lets him start the rebuilding in earnest. I will say though that even a guy like Cerrato would have enough sense/brain cells that if Okung is availble when they pick he must select him - heck Cerrato had enough sense in him to select Chris Samuels when he had the chance but I am giving him credit for the easy picks. You are dead on that we need new blood in the front office |

How do you get Kolb? What does it take? What do you think it would take to acquire him? If it requires draft picks, wouldn't they be better spent on the O Line? I'm asking because there will probably be a lot of guys cut this offseason that people on this board will turn up their noses at, but the Skins might consider. I honestly don't have an answer for what they should do. Since Campbell will likely not be a UFA because of the uncapped year, it might be wise to keep he and Colt around to compete next year with a totally rebuilt O Line. If that happens, people will piss and moan because they'll probably lose again, but they'll be in a much better position to grab a QB and hit the ground running in 2011. I'm of the opinion that this team will need much more than one offseason to rebuild and compete again. I think one thing people need to consider is "Is one more season of Jason Campbell worse than one more season of this offensive line?" If the answer is "No" you still try to get a FA QB, but you really can't trade for one unless you somehow find someone to give you picks for some of the garbage on this roster. |

Re: The line is quite offensive right now
This isn't a surprise but at this point they need to come up with the plan on how to address the line. The good news is that they are positioned to overhaul the line in one offseason. Here are my suggestions:
Do not sign one of these over the hill lineman unless it is for Vet minimum and they come in knowing that they have to FIGHT for a starting job. I don't want a band-aid, I want a solution. Every dollar counts. We are going to have our first and second draft picks. The first pick should be a premium starter for a decade hopefully a tackle. Given the bums on our line, the second pick should end up being a starter as well. Best available Tackle, Guard or Center. Then, we need to pay market rate (or slightly above which is our MO) for the best available young FA tackle. We need bookends for 5-10 years. We also need a roadgrater at RG. I want a big monster who will punish the opponent. Maybe Mike Williams can be that guy but it has to happen. Heyer is garbage and needs to go. GARBAGE. Nice story, see ya later. Rabach is expendible if you ask me. He can't even snap shotgun so we need an upgrade there. So Dock and (big maybe) Mike Williams should be the only returning starters. I could be talked into Rabach but there better not be a better option left on the table. In the later rounds of the draft we need truly fast skill players. We need speed on offense. If there is a promising corner and linebacker, I am fine with that but we have to draft another runningback. Looking forward to saying goodbye to: Randle-El, Heyer, Rogers, Campbell, Wynn, Montgomery and maybe Kelly |

I don't want a rookie QB this would be a huge mistake. Can't miss o-lineman is the only choice with a top 5 pick. |

And teams will be able to use both the Franchise and Transition tag in the same offseason with no cap, so that's 2 fewer players per team who will be available. I'd definitely franchise my youngish tackle if he were up for UFA. Also, Campbell and Rogers will both be RFA's so it would take a qualifying offer to either keep them or receive compensation for them (this should at least be done in the case of Rogers). With the new rules taking effect, it's going to be very difficult to build a team without a whole bunch of picks which means if there isn't a legit GM in Washington soon, we can cut everyone we want, but don't count on them being effectively replaced. |

Re: The line is quite offensive right now
who do you want us to build our team around? We need a complete rebuilding of our team, and JC isn't gonna be the guy to take us anywhere. I know it's not as sure of a hit, but the benefit of getting a solid QB for the future is worth the risk. If we have a qb, we will always have an offense. Look at what Aaron Rogers did while his O-line was beat up. For a few games, their O-line was significantly worse than the skins.

Re: The line is quite offensive right now
What we need for next year is to bring in some Free Agents and use the 2nd, 4th, and 5th round to bring in O-Line prospects. Obviously the 1st rounder will be used on a QB, or should Vinny still be around, a TE.

I would love to add McNeil but the Chargers can't be dumb enough to let him go on the open market.

You are displaying the thinking that got us into this position. Our problem is not our quarterback. You think Orton, Sanchez or hell Manning or Brady would have been any different last night? I have seen the body language that Campbell displayed before, he looked exactly like Patrick Ramsey. He was a punching bag and was just waiting for the hits to come. What did Gibbs with with? It wasn't the QB, it was the line. The only constant of our dominating teams was the offensive line. |

Do you not agree that a QB is a necessity to succeed in this league? How do you recommend we go about getting one? Stick with JC? That isn't working. Get a FA QB? Who that is going to be reliable? |

Every year a few good linemen are available. And don't discount the fact that some agents know that Snyder will be looking for a big name lineman and will do what it takes to get their clients a contract here. |

I am absolutely floored that anyone wants a QB with our first pick. How do you watch Stephon Heyer last night and call for a quarterback? |
