Did you hear that Cutler? That's how a man handles these things.
I'm sure behind the scenes Jason wants to know exactly what's going on, but he's handling it in house, which is exactly where it should stay.
I caught the tail end where he said that he's not worried and knows what he can deliver for the team, what he can offer in 5-10 years, etc

great responses, I honestly think that cutler probably has a better future ahead of him than campbell, but I love the way that campbell interviews... interviews don't win games, but he's the type of guy that you can always rely on to keep things the way that they should be

I get your logic, but let me respond with this question: When the hell have we ever gotten ANYTHING for "less?" We always pay double, that's just how we roll.

Those teams can pursue w/o necessarily throwing a current member of the franchise under the bus.

...personally I think this is so unfair to JC and if the FO is stupid enough to blow up the offense again i hope Campbell has tremendous success wherever he lands. I'll never support Cutler here seeing how he's handled himself...ever.

Dude, you're kidding right. According to NFL.com just about 65% of people who voted in the Denver VS Cutler poll agreed with Cutler....and so do I.
I'll welcome him with open arms. Sometime in the near future, maybe not next year you will be in full support of Cutler (If he lands with the skins)

Redskins Insider - Redskins Trying to Land Cutler
"I was definitely looking forward to being in the same offense for another year and seeing what we could together," Campbell said. "Being in a different system almost every year, you just don't get as comfortable as when you're in the same system for a lot of years. It's just different."

Am I reading this wrong (or too far into it) or does he EXPECT to be traded?

Either way I think it's clear that Cutler is the superior QB.

Part of me is excited about this if it's true, but I don't want to lose any of our core guys with Cooley and Landry.

Also if this is true I think the team is now looking back on the guys they missed. Opting for Brunell over Warner and even Campbell over Brees in 2006.
had nearly top touchdown amount in 4th too

ProFootballTalk.com - Rumors Fly Of Redskins’ Efforts To Move Campbell

It is getting out of hand. Now there are rumors of the Skins wanting to move Campbell regardless of Cutler.

In the past, we've been willing to sacrifice depth at critical positions by trading draft picks for players who, while perhaps looking good on paper, couldn't come in and play right guard in late November after injuries had thinned the roster. This willingness to forgo depth in order to bring in older guys, rather than merely the signing of free agents, has been the problem. This year, although many were quick to describe our free agency binge as certain to yield predictable results, I argued that coupled with a renewed focus on the draft, adding key players at positions of need was not the same old Redskins.

If this goes down, and that's a big if, this is worse than the same old Skins. Worse than Deion Sanders, worse than anything. Nothing against Cutler, who appears to be a genuine talent, but this team has needs he can't fix. Last year through 8 games, Jason Campbell was being discussed as a potential MVP candidate. When the offense line predictably fell apart with injuries, the entire execution of the offense unraveled. It appeared to be clear to even the most casual NFL fan: fix the offensive line and then you'll see what you have at QB.

In trading for Cutler, we are postponing our ability to fix and replenish the line through the draft so far into the future that you have to wonder if it can ever actually happen with this team. More importantly, we are signaling to anyone paying attention that through 12 years of bumbling front-office ineptitude, we have not learned a single thing. In bailing on the QB he drafted and groomed, I think the Skins are saying all that needs to be said about the stability that Joe Gibbs brought back here.

Very good post. However if let's say Gibbs was still here. Would he feel the same way after watching average QB play the last two years? Remember Gibbs tried to trade for Elway and he was active in bringing in free agents. In the end I see what the FO is doing even though I may not agree with them. They're thinking Cutler has the ability to make everyone around him better so why not try to improve the position? Some of us may not want to admit it but Cutler is simply a better Qb than JC is.

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler

I love Cutler and don't really think he is a cry baby. Would I trade Campbell for him straight up?...Hell yes. Would I get into a bidding war with 10 teams for him?...HELL NO!
If reports are correct, they want a starting QB, a starting defensive player AND a high draft pick(s)?!...WTF? That's just too high a price to pay when we ..
1.) already have a capable QB in place..
2.) have a second year guy in Colt that they seem to love.
3.) have major needs at OLB, RT, C/G
Tell Denver to go suck a fat one!!. Denver is the team in a bind with a player who wants out and they have already stated they are gonna trade him....why should we overpay in that situation?

I know this is going to sound a bit ridiculous, but let's say that we trade our first rounder and Jason Campbell for Cutler. Giving up the #13 is a lot for us since we only have four picks, and we cannot bring in a young star (good-bye oher, maulauga, etc., etc.). Yet getting Campbell and the #13 is probably less than what other teams would be able to give Denver.

Great post!! Thank you! Campbell for Cutler straight up, I agree. The sad part is that probably Danny will suck "the big one" and over pay as usual. I hope not.
