Re: I Was impressed!!!
Just got caught up in the excitement of the evening is all. After a long offseason of all the trade rumors and BS like that, it was just nice to see the guy play well and show us something.

I'm happy for Jason and I'm happy for us. I think it was a glimpse of things to come this season.

Re: I Was impressed!!!
Agreed, and that blame falls directly on Zorn. For us to have the success that we did the entire game throwing the ball, why not give us a chance to win the game?

Disagreed. As the saying goes, even a blind pig can find an acorn. Sadly, you're all setting yourselves up for heartbreak. And BTW, I don't consider myself a "JC hater" - I was on his bandwagon for 3 1/2 years - and now it's time to hop off....you DO remember Heath Shuler, don't you????

Re: I Was impressed!!!
You are correct about Shuler not being in Campbell's class - my point, and I s'pose I should have clarified it, was that Shuler - like Campbell - was billed as the Redskins' "Savior", so to speak; both first rounders, and both disappointments. If you're happy with JC's output after the past four freaking years, then by setting your sights low, you'll not be disappointed come the end of this season.
Quite frankly, I'm tired of hearing the same flimsy excuse about his performances - too many changes in offensive coordinators/offensive schemes and philosophies - being regurgitated year after year by myopic Campbell fans. Flacco and Ryan changed coordinators/systems - look how THEY produced their first year. How many more lackluster seasons by this guy will it take for management to make the necessary adjustments to the roster? Shuler fit well in Tennessee's scheme, as Campbell did at Auburn - but alas, sometimes, college heroes are destined to become NFL zeroes. And while JC's not quite a zero, he's probably more attuned to assuming the role of backup. Jusmytoosenzwurth - for what THAT'S worth..... |

Re: I Was impressed!!!
Roethlisberger, Pennington, Delhomme are all guys who fit this bill, IMO. Solid QB's who put their team in positions to win, know when to make plays and when NOT to try to force plays, but are not going to "take over the game" like a Peyton Manning or Drew Brees.
I might even put McNabb in this category these days. Being a gunslinger QB gets you on SportsCenter and to the top of fantasy football positional rankings, but doesn't guarantee Super Bowl rings. Favre is one of the undisputed all-time gunslingers, and owns how many NFL passing records, but owns just as many Super Bowl rings as Mark Rypien. Coincidence? Peyton Manning and Tom Brady are not gunslingers. They are elite, well-rounded QBs whose physical gifts are exceeded only by their decision making skills. It's pretty easy to look at a Brett Favre or Kurt Warner and find ample evidence of poor decision-making, though. High risk, high reward.

Flacco; Cam Cameron protected him by calling LOT of running plays, Ravens is #1 in NFL for calling running plays (60% or something like that).. Ryan, I don't really have an argument for him, except that maybe he did not really change much on his throwing motions/footing? While JC was working on both throwing motions/footing and learning the system.. Or maybe Ryan is just that good? After all, it's not like we can do something about it but to accept that he is our #1 QB.. Some of you guys have been arguing against JC for whole off-season and preseasons, and yet this does not make anything different for Redskins and us fans.. We all have heard same arguments over and over and over.. What's the point of continuing this? Jesus christ, just goddamn give him a break and reserve your judgments until the season is over (this goes to all you JC bashers).. |

Yes, I do remember Heath Shuler, and I don't know why you even bringing him up. I'm not saying taht JC is going to throw for 400 yds every single game and take us undefeated all season. But I think he's a solid QB that has gotten some shitty fortunes for the past couple of seasons. He's the best option at QB, and if the offensive line protects him we will see him make plays like he did when we went 6-2 last season. Our team is still a run-first team with a very good defense. We don't need Campbell to put the team on his back every single time, we just need him to be a good QB and this is the last season he has to prove this. If he doesn't, he's gone and the team can start from scratch. Until them, you'll see me defending him from the JC-hating lunatics, and praising him when he does well (which I hope happens a lot this season).
