What has yet to be seen is what age/increased workload might do to his effectiveness. He's going to start this year and see 60-70 percent of the touches, so if he holds up this year he can silence all the doubters.
Why do people think this guy is such an injury risk? Why are there so many "doubters?" He had no injury issues at Minnesota, and has played in all but 3 games as a pro. And the 3 games he missed were the first 3 of his rookie season. He's a young 24 due to his lack of mileage.

I see no reason for anyone to doubt his durability. He may get more carries this year, but will still share time with Felix Jones.

I think it's because of his high contact running style. Backs like that don't always hold up well over the course of a full season.

I don't like the Newman contract because the guy is at his peak right now, and if he plays all the contract (won't happen), he'll be 35 in it's final year.

Relative to the way they Cowboys have built their team, it was probably their only option with Newman was to extend him or let him hit the market next year. But I have a feeling that he's going to lose effectiveness before Dallas is willing to take him out of the starting lineup because of this deal.

Granted, we're talking 4 years down the road, but those years count too.

Check out this article...this guy thinks we should consider Schweigert.

"Stuart Schweigert

Miscast as a free safety in Oakland’s defense, Schweigert frequently took poor angles to the ball contributing to the Raider’s 32nd ranked run defense. The Redskins could use his skill set as key primary depth at the SS position currently held by Reed Doughty. He could cover the TE at a level far superior to Doughty right off the bat. He was just released, and for any team looking for safety help, should be a hot commodity. He’s only going to be 27 this season."

I do pick up Schweigert in the later rounds of my fantasy draft in Madden. His CTH is pretty high for a SS.
