If his coaches really thought that he could have kept that sort of thing up for the whole game I'm sure they would have told JJ to hit the bench a lot sooner.

The bolded point really isn't true, necessarily. He did play a lot of third downs, but the carries between him and JJ were split pretty equally throughout the season, and not really in any particular situation.

What has yet to be seen is what age/increased workload might do to his effectiveness. He's going to start this year and see 60-70 percent of the touches, so if he holds up this year he can silence all the doubters.
