Of course a large part of this is that I am hoping that we will have a very strong draft class based on Scot McCloughan's hire.
really, this team needs OL,TE, RB, DL, OLB, CB, and S. There is no chance they will fill all their needs in the draft.

Not this year. But in a couple... it is possible. Even though I think free agency should still be used I am not a fan of building a Madden team.

Copy what Seattle did.

counting on getting a Richard Sherman, and a Byron Maxwell in the late rounds is a questionable strategy. It looks like Seattle traded down several times- they have had extra picks in the last 5 years, including 2 #1 picks in 2010

The Redskins cannot turn things around solely based on 2 drafts- and no free agents

This is the year for the Skins to double down on the draft. We basically had two full staffs evaluating college players at all levels- the Skins glorious college scouting depth and McC's private firm. The draft isn't a sure thing but this year ought to be as close as the Skins can get. On the other hand our pro personnel department has been less than stellar, and McC certainly was not sitting around looking at potential FAs. Take this year to load up on draft picks, evaluate the pro personnel on their jobs and get the right crew in for the next year. Next year we should be more balanced in the approach, and hopefully less position needy. Plus we would have the added bonus of actually rolling cap over in the offseason assuming we leave the big name FA alone this year.

I don't think McC is planning on this taking two years. He's probably looking at closer to 4-5 years.

He better plan on a quick (2 or 3 year) turnaround, because McC will not have a job if it takes 4 or 5 years. If they spend wisely, and draft wisely, the Redskins can be good in 2 years.

who was the last personnel guy that Snyder only gave 2-3 years. Sometimes I don't get how perception outweighs reality.

Snyder gave full control to Schottenheimer. Took it back after one year. Gave full control to Cerratto in 2008. Gave it to Shanny after two years (justifiably, still 2-3 years). Gave Allen control after firing Shanny. Now giving it to McCloughan after one year.

All this is not counting Snyder being a habitual meddler. But Danny Boy has gone through head personnel guys nearly as fast as he has gone through head coaches.

OLB, TE, RB how are these needs? (maybe OLB, but not likely finding a reasonably priced FA upgrade out there)
DL/CB, one draft spot, maybe 2
OL and S absolutely 4 picks in this area.

If we trade down in one of the first 3 rounds, we should have 4-5 top 100 draft picks. We need to hit on them, for OL, S and maybe DL help.

When you list RB or TE you just sound like a pipe dream fan. We have Morris, Helu, Redd, as reasonably proven talents. Likewise Paul, Paulson and Reed are a combo that minimizes the need for using a draft pick at TE this year. Those are both spots where you get cheap FA's, let them compete, and best players stay.

Sure, we could use FA's, every team can, but our emphasis should not be on any FA "saviors" at any position.
