This is a good point. However, Dak has the best running game to lean on with the best o-line. If a rookie were to walk into our type of offense he'd struggle.

Good teams have good players and he was part of it and played well. Mark Sanchez/Kellen Moore wasn't going 13-3 with that team. He deserves a lot of credit.

If anyone knows what it's like to suffer through bad QB play it should be us.

Yet some seem willing to walk away from a guy who's put up some pretty big numbers the last 2 seasons and is just entering his prime. Very strange.

It's not walking away scott free its setting a reasonable price and if he doesnt want to meet it or at the very least be close to it, moving on to other options. We talked about this previously. I personally only think he's worth 20 million, I could grit my teethe and bear 22 million, but anymore than that he's being drastically over paid based on his performance.

At what price do you think we shouldn't sign him? Or do you think even if it's 25 million, you'd still say sign him?

Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread

My solution's the best in my opinion- Dan Snyder, Bruce Allen and whoever currently has something against Cousins- need to check their ego and just pay the man to a long term deal.

It's what's best for the Redskins. And in the meantime, if you want you can actively pursue a replacement. Companies in other industries do this all the time. It's smart business.

And if you find a replacement, trade him. If you don't, keep him.

Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread

At the end of the day, I want our team to win. If that means me being wrong about Cousins and we do end up paying him a kings ransom and it works out, so be it. I don't envy SM on this decision.

Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread

There are some issues to this, but it's better than not having a good qb. The main one would be- he'll hamstring the Redskins' salary cap, especially early on.

Because I think everyone can agree that he's currently not elite, but he'll be paid like one. Salary cap percentage and inflation be damned.

22-23 range seems appropriate but I won't be surprised if it's closer to 25. Ultimately though how the deal is structured and what the guaranteed money is the only thing that matters. They can make the deal look as pretty as they want on paper.

Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread

So now I can separate 1) the decision with what to do with Cousins versus with what I think 2) how he's handling his contract and how he's played.

Oh, so your strategy is to wait for lightning to strike, which is what happened with Dak. Other than that, you have no discernible plan for the QB position other than to hope that fate takes a hand.

How long are you willing to wait to be a Super Bowl contender? Seriously, how long are you willing to wait?

In your opinion, are we dealing with a window of opportunity here before we lose players like Williams, Norman, and Kerrigan or not?

Are you aware that Kirk Cousins already holds numerous Redskins franchise records even though he has only been the starter for two seasons? Don't you think he can continue to improve?

In truth, the Redskins made the decision to pay more money for Kirk than they needed to by delaying their decision sign him to a long-term contract last season. They could have had a good deal for the next few seasons but they wanted more proof. NFL QB salaries go up significantly each and every season, so now they'll have to pay more if they still want him.

I think the Redskins need Kirk. I also think they know it but still, somehow, they think they're in the driver's seat in the negotiations with Kirk and his agent. Up to now, Kirk and his agent have been nice. I'll tell you how Kirk can get the long term deal he wants from some team. He just simply needs to inform the Redskins that if he cannot come to an agreement with them on a long term deal, then he will not sign a Franchise Tag agreement with them and he will instead sit out the 2017 season. Then we'll all find out Kirk's real NFL value.

Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread

He's played poorly in key games when he needed to step up. And he's played scared. Probably because of his contract. I liked him much more towards the end of last year when he played with swagger and a sense of fearlessness. I thought he was going to build on that but instead when you thought he was going to take off- he'd regress.

He'd have games and glimpses but then he'd have a disappointing series and disappointing games.

... and that's why I was so upset when he was openly talking about his contract so soon after the last game of the season.

We know that. So what's your verdict, sign him or cut him?
