By that count we'd go 11-5. But even if we go 2-3 against the NFC East, that's still 10-6.

The team can't look ahead though, they have to go one game at a time. They really need to beat the Giants next weekend.
Good point. The bucs have Rattay now. I don't like their chances anymore but let's see what Gruden does now. Greise was not great, but he knew the system and was efficient.

Re: Remainder of the season: Conservative Predictions

Here is the thing:
The NFC East has become the dominant NFC division again. Whoever wins our division should have the best chance at going to the SuperBowl. Right now, we control our own destiny after 6 games. I'm very happy with that.

There are some tough games on the schedule ahead of us. If we are a good team, and I think we are, then we win the most of the tough games and win all of the games against weaker teams. We have proved that we should expect to win every week. And, by the way, now we have Lavar back!

Re: Remainder of the season: Conservative Predictions

Just for Kicks here's my thoughts:

Oct. 30 v. Giants: Win
Nov. 6 vs. Eagles: Win
Nov. 13 @ Buccaneers: Loss
Nov. 20 vs. Raiders: Win
Nov. 27 vs. Chargers: Loss
Dec. 4 @ Rams: Win
Dec. 11 @ Cardinals: Win
Dec. 18 vs. Cowboys: Win
Dec. 24 vs. Giants: Win
Jan. 1 @ Eagles; Loss

But I think we can pretty much beat anybody on the schedule - Week to week, it's just a matter of how focused we are and how the ball bounces.

I am already planning for the Skins first home playoff game in 6 (?) years.

The great thing going for the Redskins right now, is that their 2 loses are against the AFC, which in the tiebreaker situations is way down the list. As long as they keep winning NFC games, that will help tremendously in the tiebreaker department.

I sent my friend who is a big Patriots fan an email about a week ago, saying that we would lose to the Chiefs on some fluke, insident (fumble) and we would kill the 49ers, something Dallas had a hard time doing.....go figure, but after that I said we would be 4-2 and if we won 5 out of the next 10 games we could be 9-7 which would put us in the wild card, but if we could queeze out 6 of that 10, then were guarenteed a playoff spot, this is a big step for us, if your not sure how well were doing check out our divisions wins against the teams we've played and they have played, if we beat the Giants and the Eagles the week after were 6-2 in first place and on pace to win 11 games so its realistic to go 10-6 make the playoffs beat Minnesota or Chicago and move to the next round......I believe 10-6 is the right prediction

Re: Remainder of the season: Conservative Predictions

We can beat any team in the league hands down. Not in an 'any given sunday' way either. We play our game we don't lose another game. Period. Now clearly that is not reasonable but I think we do have a reasonable shot to go 10-6 or 11-5. It's all about injuries at this point. Keep Brunell, Moss, o-line healthy and get our secondary back at full strength and we are a force week in and week out. It can't be seen any other way.

And if we go 4-2 against the divison for the year that make us 7-4 without counting the other games. Then we'd need 3-2 against outside division opponents which certainly doable.

Re: Remainder of the season: Conservative Predictions

I've looked at our schedule this year a thousand times and I still see us winning the division. One reason is we play the Eagles at home on the first match-up. Secondly, I see us winning both against the Giants and Eagles and destroying Dallas in December.

The Redskins in defeat, have dominated every opponent in time of possession. In fact, we lead the league in that area. This is crucial if we are to win our division and secure a home field advantage later on. I think to predict a loss to any team at this crucial point has to difficult because no team we have to face has been as consistent as we have as playing for 60 minutes and never surrendering until the clock says 0:00.
I'm glad we lost two games in the early part of the season because those games allowed us to see our weaknesses and make the neccessary adjustments. Lavar fits right in that equation. Redskins record 12-4.

I love the optimism! Good to see it around here after the last couple of weeks.

Re: Remainder of the season: Conservative Predictions

Let's not let JG hear us making any of these predictions because he would think we all have lost it. lol The way we're playing now 10-6 seems within reach. I feel that our focus now is in the realization we can control what happens in the NFC east. I also concur with those who maintain we can beat any team in the league if we 1. Don't turn the ball over, 2 Don't accumulate stupid penalties 3 Win the give-away-take away battle. It's good to be in the position where we control our own destiny and not have to depend on others. It's all up to us.

Go Redskins!!! Playoffs in 05 for sure.

Re: Remainder of the season: Conservative Predictions

what will be good enough to let us win the division???
I say 11 wins will tie it so if we win all of our divisional games we will break the tie breaker. 12 will win it

What is good enough to get us a playoff spot through wildcard???
i say we need atleast 10

Re: Remainder of the season: Conservative Predictions

Jan 1, 2007 - Redskins beat Philly in Philly to go 12-4 and lock up home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

After the bye, we get Dallas. We beat them. Soundly.

Then we get Philly (who has beaten Seattle) and destroy them sending the Philly fans into a deathspin which sucks the entire blight that is known as Philadelphia into a black hole reserved for 4-time losers.

Then we play Indi and Gibbs gets his 4th SB as we beat Indi 34 - 10.

Oh wait - this was supposed to be conservative predictions, fine...

We beat Indi 21 - 10.

If we split win against the eagles and the giants then
we go to the playoffs

Re: Remainder of the season: Conservative Predictions

I agree 10 wins may be good enough to get us a wild card if a wild card will come from the NFC east. I'm hoping for 12 wins and the division, plus HF advantage. There's no reason why 12 wins should be considered a stretch because I think we're capable of taking the Giants and Philly. The NFC east is strong enough to produce a wild card winner, but what division do you feel will produce the other WC winner? Our best chances in the PO is with HF. that's why I'm hoping for 11-12 wins. We have stiff competition and that seems to make us play better. Not only that, when we beat the better teams it makes us more worthy of playoff caliber consideration.
