Re: The Season Is Over

WASHINGTON - Washington coach Joe Gibbs is in the bunker mode.

Stealing a passage from Ben Franklin’s motto of “We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately,” Gibbs lamented the entire team was responsible for the 25-22 loss to previously-winless Tennessee on Sunday down to the parking attendants who let the Titans bus into FedEx Field.

The offense was practically non-existent over the final three quarters after taking a 14-0 on its first two possessions. The defense let a rookie quarterback beat them in the final minutes. Special teams permitted a blocked punt for a a safety.

Sounds like predecessor coach Norv Turner talking about all three phases and that’s not a good thing.

Washington travels to unbeaten Indianapolis on Sunday. Chances are that’s a loss as the Redskins enter the bye 2-5. The season looks trashed even if the team won’t admit it.

“You can’t, at 2-4, think this thing is a lost cause,” quarterback Mark Brunell said, “because the second you do that you’re in trouble.”

Mark — there’s trouble in the capital city. It starts with T and that stands for taxes (sorry, local version). The team isn’t making the playoffs barring a dramatic turnaround. Brunell could be headed into retirement with Gibbs on his heels.

The whispers around the team say owner Dan Snyder is meddling again. Telling coaches they’re not worth their big salaries. That really bodes badly because if the owner gets his paws on the helm the franchise will surely crash and burn.

The faces of players in the locker room revealed all. It was more than frustration. It was resignation. They’ve seen potential fade quickly in the past. After six games, the team is what it is and there’s no help coming.

It's pretty bleak when the season hinges on beating arguably one of the best football teams of that past few years and somehow figuring out how to stop one of the greatest QBs to ever play the game.

If Danny is meddling, we should get the villagers together and take our torches and pitchforks over the Redskins Park and lynch him. That said, I doubt he's dumb enough to meddle again.

Well, no, the season hinges on a huge surge after the bye. Win or lose here vs. Indy, the disappointment of this start will be a distant memory come Dallas week post-bye.

A win would go a long way to shutting some people up around the league and here though. But I think its the least crucial game remaining on the schedule.

We were 5-6 last year so 2-5 could easily become 5-6 if not 6-5, if the defense plays like a NFL defense finally.

Bill Parcells press conference today.

Indy can't stop the run.

no offense or anything... but why don't you just put HAIL from MCUSA! in your signature...

it will prevent you from developing carpal tunnel to early...

Re: The Season Is Over

some of u guys are insane. i cant believe u call yourselves fans. do u people forget we have joe gibbs. joe gibbs always finds a way to win whether its in the nfl or nascar and this season is no different. was the season over last year when we were 5-6? this week we get back to the basics and run all over the colts. Brunell has a great game cuz he knows his job is on the line. we saw te cardinals almost beat the bears last night so we can beat the colts. we know what our defense can do and i think g.williams will get it fixed. and we know what our offense can do when we run the football. i still think we have a very good team we just gotta get it together and i think we will.

Re: The Season Is Over

Well I know when the Reskins were 5-6 last season I had already put a fork in them.

I for one, do not make the same mistakes twice. If the Redskins are mathematically in it, then they always make a late season run.
