Re: Family

hmm, so if one doesn't agree with you wholeheartly for some vague and vacuous reason, they must be a cowboy fan?

Sounds like something only a cowboy fan could dream up. see how that just worked? lame.

Re: Family

cant buy into the whole family thing, but can defintiley buy into skins fans everywhere show their respect for one another.... im up here in morgantown wv (steeler nation for all that probably dont know) and ive got skins paraphanelia on my truck all over the place, and ill always get a HAIL! or something to that extent when driving on campus, skins fans are amazinhg fans for the most part (true skins fans, no fairweathers) there is nothing undeniable about that, family no... people who understand your love for the same team yes, ive been invtied by complete strangers to watch skins games with them because you cant beat a bunch of skins fans watchin the game together... well the thing is basically look, its 4 in the morning, im drunk, am i making sense? maybe? but hey we have some of the best fans in the nfl and thats all im trying to say, i dont buy into the skins family deal but yeah we do have some kick ass freakin fans

Re: Family

I guess I digress....hmm how'd you like that. Family is to me someone who loves the good times, maybe ask you a question or two in the bad times, and will be there when you need them. I've lost a family member to murder, and I'll say this God Bless the Phoenix Redskin "FAMILY" because they have been there with and for me.Oh wait did you miss that. . . in case your are on the short bus that is period to you. period. . . .

Lets eat some Jaguars

Hail FAMILY

Re: Family

hmm... you can't stand to have people disagree with you?

cause every opinion here that disagrees with yours is rebutted with insults instead of contrary evidence.

then again, maybe you're just a short bus riding dallas fan :P

can you see how lame that is? that seems to be your prefered method of going about a discussion here, but for talking about love and respect, you seem to show very very little. I'd hope you'd treat your "family" better than that.

Re: Family

Yeah, I don't feel like everyone who's involved with the skins is my family, but the Skins are a big part of my personal family, and I DO get emotional during games... It can make or break my day if we win or lose, and yeah, when we came back to beat dallas, I teared up a bit...

But if the topic in question is, "do you feel every redskin fan is family to you..." the answer would be No. I saw this one guy at the gas station with skins gear on and he stunk and he had no teeth. That guy is not in my family!

Also, katie holmes was at our game and I would completely bone her silly... am I incestuous?

You know what... screw you for calling me some backwoods west virginia inbred yokel who bones his hot redskin famlily cousin in the back of a 1992 dodge caravan at my uncles house and we dont talk about it anymore!

That is exactly what I was going to say, I've met met a lot of douchebag skins fans who give the rest of us bad names. But my family isn't exactly devoid of douchebags

Re: Family

I'm not sure I'd call us a family. I think of us more as a community. We support each other when the need arises. After all, there were hundreds, if not thousands of fans who rallied together to help Chief Zee when he became ill.

Re: Family

When it comes down to it, my wife and kid come before the Skins - that's family. Saden1 is right that the Skins are entertainment that we are all passionate about. There is a huge difference between the two.

The cold truth... and that is that we aren't really family, we are consumers who like consuming Redskin football every weekend. We spend our hard earned dollars to be entertained whether at FedEx field or the sports bar next door. We watch because we want to be be Entertained, both in the good times and the bad times. To have bragging rights over fans of others teams. Some of us to make money by wagering on them.

Every time you watch the Redskins you better believe Mr. Snyder's accountants are counting the dough. The Redskins are what they are, a sports team that's in the Entertainment business.

I hate it when people use words like family, love, friend, etc loosely. It diminish the real value of the words. We have something common but that doesn't make us family. And if all we have in common is the Redskins you are at best an acquaintance.
The irony is that next to the huge "family" sign is a bud light advertisement.

great post, totally agree.
