Fyi...the all time leading rusher is Emmitt Smith who played for Norv.
I don't know what you were getting at with the Emmitt stat. And wasn't Vernon Davis hurt and inactive for all but the first game until this week?

If the guy is going to compare Frank Gore to Emmitt Smith (which is ridiculous) at least spell the all time leading rusher's name right.

No, he was active in weeks 1, 2, 3, 11, and 12. What else would you like to know, Tafkas.

I stand corrected. I thought he was inactive

You were looking at the stats, which would make it seem that he only played 2 weeks. Not exactly comparable to Jay Novacek...

I thought he had been out for about two months. Ah well

I don't think it's ridiculous to compare Frank Gore to Emmitt Smith. If his body holds up over his career than I think he could have a similar career. The guy is just a ridiculously good runner, very elusive but is very powerful as well. Rarely have I seen him go down have the first hit. Also catches out of the backfield very well. The only knock on the guy is the fumbles from early in the year and a couple weeks ago.

Of course you don't... Rexi, that may be the most absurd thing that I have ever read on this site.

You know Leinart reminds me of Montana.

Didn't you say that Andrew Walter was 10 times better than Mark Brunell, just one week after saying Mark Brunell played like a pro bowler vs Dallas?

I think thats the most absured thing I've ever read on this site.

As far as Frank Gore...I don't know if I'd pull the Emmitt comparision just yet. Emmitt will be remembered predomanantly for his longevity, and Gore is a second year player. He's definately justified his 65th overall pick status though.

I'm not saying that Gore is a HOF'er or anything yet but I think that if he stays healthy over his career he definitely has the ability to do it. He's a special player.

Re: the forty niners

I love Frank Gore so much. The guy is just a monster, best RB we have ever had and will have Hearst's rushing record by the end of the season.

So Brunell pulling one game out of his ass makes him better than Andrew Walter?

Great analysis on Emmitt Smith. I made the same points 2 months ago except I pointed out that it is idiotic to compare Gore to Smith. Which it is.

Because of Gore's major injuries, his career numbers will not even approach Smith. He is great right now, in fact he just put up 25 in my fantasy semi-final but it is so stupid on many levels to compare him to the greatest rusher in history.

When Gore is compared to Smith people are atlking about ability, which you judge from watching the player play. No one is comparing their freaking careers right now.
