Re: weight gaining
It started with ROTC (insert joke about ROTC dorks). We had a competition each year (for anyone who was in ROTC, it was the "Ranger Challenge") that included a bunch of physical stuff. We had our own gym and we'd just hang around and work out to prep for the competition. So, I got in really good shape.
After college, I worked at an incredibly boring job where I had my own office and no one ever came by. So, I decided to start doing push-ups to stay awake and keep in shape. I ended up doing push-ups in 20s, then 30s, then 40s, and eventually in 50s. The most I ever did in a day was 1,100 so I had stick legs and smallish biceps, but my triceps and chest were massive. Just so you don't think I'm bragging, let's just say that I am nowhere near that "level" anymore. I probably can do about 100 pushups (and not in a row), and after that, my arm would fall off. I've developed a mini-gut since I started law school and I'd be lucky if I could run a 40 in less than 8.9 seconds...on speed. |
