But the average fracture of an ankle (according to webmd) only takes 4-8 weeks. So why are the Skins doctors thinking he's out for the season?

Re: Jansen's discolated ankle

Hopefully Heyer can play like he did today. I think after some brushing up on technique he could be a premier tackle in this league.

Well I'm not a doctor but I stayed at a Holiday Inn. Seriously though, my understanding from speaking with some medical professionals, is that the 4-8 weeks is merely the time it takes for the ankle to look back to normal. But then that's around the time you can start rehabbing and using your ankle, getting the full range of motions, etc. And that process can take a few months.

This sounds about right to me. I don't know, another season ending injury for Jansen. I wish 'em luck. He's a true Redskins.

I actually did break my ankle in high school (granted I was younger than Jansen) and I was back playing soccer on it in 7 weeks...and they had to force me to stay off the field cause I wanted to by week 5 or so.
Maybe I'm a quick healer, and maybe it was my age...but soccer requires your ankles more than football. At this point, I just don't see why it's a season long injury unless ligaments / tendons were snapped too.

I fractured my ankle sliding into 2nd my freshman year of high school...and my "wonderful" coach decided to cut me on the spot. Great guy, there I am lying on the field, writhing in pain. And he says "Listen, we're going to go ahead and cut you" Last game of spring training before the season starts. He didn't even need to cut anyone

Anyhow, a lot I think with Jansen will depend on how quickly they make a decision on what to do.

But hey, I'm also holding out hope that what I'm hearing is wrong and he's back sooner than later.

^What a dick move.

I have a feeling that Samuels injury might have been a blessing in disguise. It sure helped Heyer get some playing time, and get ready to play if need be.

He did a very good job stepping up and not missing a beat. He might not have been perfect, but pretty damn good considering the circumstances.

Total dick. He'd make the team do 10 pushups for every run allowed. Right there on the spot. So if the team gave up its 4th run of the day. The whole team would have to get down and do 40 pushups, on top of the 30, 20, and 10 they had just done. It was embarrassing. He was gone after that 0-10 season.

The next season the only changes were that I played and we had a new coach. And we went 9-1 (this was JV) and lost in the county finals. And I doubt I was the one that made a big difference.

Re: Jansen's discolated ankle

Why not keep Heyer in and let the good times roll? I havent been terribly impressed with Wade. But on the other hand, I was all over Heyer after JC got hit in the preseason.

Re: Jansen's discolated ankle

I think we should keep Heyer in there. If he starts to really collapse then we have a good backup in Wade.
