Re: Portis Blocks Taylor

That was a gutsy, albeit stupid, hit.

I said earlier that I really thought it was unnecessary and could have cost us a major penalty. I'm hoping the refs just sat back and we're so impressed, they kept that flag in there pocket.

I know I would have just sat there in awe.

Why would the refs have thrown the flag on that? Portis did nothing wrong, he didn't hold, he didn't face mask, he made a good block to help spring his QB. What if Portis doesn't make that block and Campbell slows down just a step to make a cut and he gets light up from behind by Roth, and Portis just stood there and didn't try to make that block? With that happening Campbell has a greater chance to get seriously hurt or even cough up the ball...

OK, not sure if anyone posted it here or somewhere else, but here's a compilation of Portis blocks, the Miami block is included. He could have gotten flagged, it was behind the play, and there was some helmet to helmet contact. But the way he just launches himself, I thought of him as a small back, but he's got some definite pop. Portis reclaims his rightful status as an elite back this season...

Awesome video! That one against the Giants where I takes out two guys at the same time is sweet.

After seeing that hit on Miami again I'm shocked he didn't get a flag. Awesome, brutal hit, but that's just plain dangerous for him and the other guy. Surprised no one was knocked out.

It could have been flagged for CP leading with his helmet, and it was very close to being a block in the back.

It was borderline overall, but not enough to be flagged IMO.

I saw him leading with his shoulder, and because it was from Roth's side I will give that it could have ben close to a block in the back. But it was just Portis doing what Portis does, going all out...

I saw it as a block in the back... but until we've got video, it's pointless to debate.

I went nuts when it happened, after I saw no flag.

Impressive hit, but discretion is key.
