Would those necessarily be my thoughts standing on the sidelines? How about no, Scott. But ultra-conservative play-calling has sort of been the standard, wouldn't you say, Scott?
You're missing the point. There is only one play to run there--2 pt conversion. Every coach in the NFL would run it, and would be properly criticized if they didn't. Since kicking does you NO GOOD THERE, you might as well try it.

As for picks and fumbles--that could happen on any play. By your logic, JC shouldn't have touched the ball today. Either he can play, and you run your offense, or you bench him. But once the decision is made to play him, in that situation, you go for 2--every time.

My bad. On the other hand, I think there are some players who've forgotten that little rule too - I remember a pick on conversion I think from last year where the dude took off down the field.

Re: Let's talk about the onsides kick today

I loved that call to go for the onsides kick today, it was very ballsy. The play before when Gibbs kicked the field goal I was pretty much saying Gibbs didn't have any balls because I wanted him to go for the touchdown instead of going for the field goal, but I gladly ate my words when he did the onsides kick lol. It was very refreshing to see this team do something that's not considered the norm.

Very aggresive gutsy call and well executed. Definate changing point in the game.

Agreed. I don't even know why we are discussing this frankly.

Re: Let's talk about the onsides kick today

I wish they had a special teams player of the year, Thank god for Rock. It was a good call. Our team handled the game well, considering getting scored on right off the bat. It was pretty, but most of our games aren't

Re: Let's talk about the onsides kick today

I think it was a great call. The Jets looked stunned, which seems to be the intent of nonsides kick at that point in a game. Great call and I wouldn't be all that upset if the Jets had recovered it instead because it at least showed the team is trying to win.

At that point in the game we were down 17-6 with about 5 minutes to go in the first half. If we don't recover the Jets are in prime field position and could have put the game away with a TD. Instead it only leads to 3 points, but in the grand scheme of the game it was a big play and a gutsy call. For all the criticism the team takes for not being aggressive enough, let's at least give some props for this one.
I almost shit in my pants when we did that. Great call and it would have been a great call if we didn't get it. The fact that we tried it was impressive.

Then we went back to the conservative game plan.
