I think they are taking the violence out of football which is ridiculous. Football is a violent sport. If they are trying to make it into a cream puff sport, it's going to ruin the game. I'm not in favor of cheap shots or late hits, but I think they are trying to get a little too technical in some of these penalties.
I realize a lot of the younger fans enjoy seeing a high scoring game and long bombs down the field, but I get as much enjoyment out of the QB getting destroyed on a sack.

The real problem here is that an illegal hit on one player isn't an illegal hit on another. When a quarterback is moving around, is he running or throwing? The answer may cost you tens of thousands of dollars.

Read my previous post. The more subjective the call the better cover for a ref to throw a flag and change the momentum or outcome of a game, all the while looking legitimate. Sort of US like foreign policy and bombing the shit out of countries based on humanitarian reasons(regime change). |
