Re: Risk or Reward Albert Haynesworth???

You've always got to be wary of the player who underperforms for the bulk of his career and then becomes a dominant force in his walk year.

Even without that, Haynesworth will command way too much money and I don't see him getting out of Tennessee, even if that means a franchise tag, followed by acrimony, but eventually a deal getting done. Plus the Skins have too many other needs to throw that many dollars at a position where they do not have a glaring need. If you want to throw a ton of money at a guy then go throw dollars at Jared Allen (another guy who won't end up leaving his current team).

Great observation. We signed Dana Stubblefield 10 years back after he was the NFL Defensive MVP with 15 sacks as a DT. He did squadoosh as a Redskin.

Bonus points for "squadoosh".

Haynesworth has played very well throughout his career. The spike in his numbers we're seeing have a lot to do with the fact that he was (rightly) suspended for so much of last year.

As for his character, I'd say he showed a great deal of contrition for his actions last year, and has behaved since. I doubt he'll make it to the market, and I doubt we'd be able to afford his asking price if he did.
