Re: Do the Pats go down as perfect if they lose in the playoffs?

no. if they lose, then 16-0 is just another record and becomes no big deal for the next guy.

if they go all the way, not only do they put the 72 dolphins to rest, 16-0 stays a sacred (for lack of a better term) record the next time someone hits it.

without a superbowl win, it'll get lost in the shuffle pretty quick. with a win, it becomes a story for the grandkids, so yeah, it's really important they finish it off.

Contestent: What is New England Patriots?

If you can't win the big game you season is pretty meaningless if you ask me. Hope the Pats get ambushed in the payoffs.
Wouldn't that be: "WHO are the New England Patriots"? LOL.

I agree with you...if they fall short of the Super Bowl win, it's all for not.

So where would these Patriots fall in history if they fail to win it all?
All they will be is a great team, who got caught slippin in the playoffs.

16-1 means squat!

Just like any other team, is a failure unless you win the whole thing. They had a great year but none of it matters in my book until there the last one standing.

The perfect regular season can never be taken away from them. I think they are the greatest football team ever, irregardless of what they can do in the playoffs. If they were to get beat, it would certainly be an upset.

All that said, it will be impossible to remember them as perfect if they do lose. If they were to get beat, they would have been the greatest football team of all time, but not perfect.

Perfection is a bitch.

I heard on one of the pregame shows yesterday that since the NFL started way back in the day there have been 3 teams that have gone undefeated in the regular season and 2 of those lost in the playoffs.

I cant see NE losing in the playoffs as they cruised pretty easily to that 16-0 record.

Win or lose this season is all about New England.

If they lose all we're going to hear about is how they couldn't finish 19-0. Unfortunately that story will overshadow the Super Bowl winner if it's not them.

One of them (the Bears) lost to the Redskins in the championship, another one that won (72 Dolphins) beat the Redskins. So, could we meet the Patriots for #4 and make history again? Stay tuned.

Well, they did not cruise through the end of their schedule. They almost lost to Baltimore, Philly and the Giants. I think they exposed something that others will be intently looking at...and I hope / pray that they lose in the playoffs.

I think because the early games were so easy when they had to actually play a little it looked like they were struggling.
