Re: Dan Snyder losing respectability?
Is it true Snyder was pissed at Williams becuase he never told Joe Gibbs about the 10 men on the field thing when Sean Taylor died?As I understand it he feels if the head coach did'nt trust him no one can.

1) JERRY Jones has won several Super Bowls; Mr. Snyder in 8 years still has to buy tickets to go to one. 2) Mr. Jones comes from a huge football background. He was a star Rb out of High school and received multiple scholarship offers to play at major NCAA Div I schools. He ended up at U of Arkansas with Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer. Mr. Snyder has never been on or around any organized major football team. Even his high school team that he was not on (B.C.C.) is perennially a terrible team. So I do not understand why he thinks he has the knowledge to be the final say in all player operations? He has proven over the last eight years he is not football savvy. |

Re: Dan Snyder losing respectability?
I'm not sure he's losing respect, but I do believe he clearly miscalculated the coaching situation. i'm not one to criticize Snyder, mostly because I think he listened to what his coaches told him they needed (ie- why i so hard on the coaches). At this point, we erred in signing coordinators ahead of the head coach, and I think Snyder knows it. live and learn- I think he'll get it right soon. not a fan of Vinny- at all.

I wouldn't argue with one single thing you said, but when ownership was transfered form the Cooke Foundation and Daniel Snyder asumed ownership, there was no criteria established that the new owner had to have a football background, or any previous association with the world of sports. Had that been the case, then perhaps Snyder would not have been able to purchase the team. Snyder is what he is, and unfortunately he's what we have to live with unless he decides to sell the team. |

Snyder wants to be like Jerry Jones but he does not have the background to do it. |

Re: Dan Snyder losing respectability?
Dan is a Redskin Fan FIRST and a business man second.Yes it seems as though he has f@#ked up but if any of us had the money and power that dan has we would be doing the same thing.Dan just wants whats best for the redskin family.Yes he should have kept greg williams but we dont know what went on behind closed doors,so thats that. Now keeping it REAL,who ever dan chooses is going to work with the talent we have and it wont be no slouch whom ever he is and you can bank on that shit,fo REAL!We dont need cower, mooch, greg,al,jimmy, spags, fassels or whoever! What we need is a young coach with vision on how this game needs to be played period, some one like that boy in pittsburg or jeff fisher, get the picture. Its going to take some time beleive that shit.My wife and myself went to our first redskin game at fedex and we had a BLAST!!!! so we now take a week of vacation to see a redskin game at home, feel me?Dan is not STUPID and dont forget that. Peace out and HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!!!

Jack Kent Cooke had vast knowledge of how the professional sports world operated because he had previously owned sporting franchises', not in football but Hockey and Basketball. Mr. Cooke was also more hands-on than many people realize. He came very close to firing Joe Gibbs at the beginning of his first tenure here, it's just that during that time, every little thing wasn't scrutinized and made public the way it is today. |

Re: Dan Snyder losing respectability?
Sorry, that just didn't make sense getting these assistants before getting the HC. I mean who ever has heard of that before? Usually the HC brings in his own guys so they are on the same page and have good chemistry together. With the way it is you are forcing the HC to adapt to total strangers that might have a different vision than he does, and this might cause some future discord down the line. Snyder screwed up bigtime when he canned Marty. Marty could have gotten us to the next level. I do not think the Skins are going to get to the next level for some time now until a GM is in place and/or Snyder gets cured of his control freak problem.

I respectfully regret to tell you that I did not, at anypoint during your tirade, feel you or understand you for that matter. It seems as if the only thing we have in common is our fondness for the Redskins, here is to keeping it that way.

Your first point is especially important. The adjustment that Williams had to go through after the disaster of 2006 is something that we may not have seen if Lil' Danny had his way. In fact, it sheds light on the mentality of Snyder hiring coordinators before getting a head coach. He wants the ability to fire them if he doesn't like what he sees. It's something that probably ate away at Snyder during the Gibbs years. You can just tell he was feverishly biting his nails at the chance to drop the ax on both Williams and Saunders when things weren't going right. So it all makes sense now. Hire the coordinators first, -- new head coach comes in with the understanding that he has no contol over the offensive and defensive staff leaders, -- Lil' Danny gets impatient with the offense or defense, and boom! He can fire them midseason if need be because he hired them and the coach didn't. Sheer brilliance on the part of Dan Snyder. |

Re: Dan Snyder losing respectability?
In response to the titular question of this thread: Has Dan Snyder ever held any measurable amount of respect around the NFL? He's got a fat wallet, but not a lot else. I think that this offseason has been hugely negative for the perception of the Washington Redskins around the league. If this team doesn't start conducting business in a manner that is widely respected, they will find it harder to attract quality free agents and coaches. We can always rely on getting the player looking for a huge pay day, but that seldom benefits the team in the long run. I've honestly had this feeling lately that one day we'll be watching the draft and our first round pick will refuse to play for the 'Skins ala Eli Manning/John Elway. When/If that happens, we know we've hit rock bottom in the respect dept.

Re: Dan Snyder losing respectability?
i do feel like he will have to bring in someone with ties to the organization to re-establish trust.
