Unfortunately, I'm willing to bet that this kind of thing has been happening through the course of human history.
The guy clearly lost his mind for whatever reason, thinking that the kid had demons in him or some BS. I don't think that insanity is anything really new. People have been doing sick shit to one another all throughout history.
