As high profile as the owner is, he's never going to get the type of air time or respect that the players will.
Portis is currently the face of the franchise. That might change within a year, but there's no doubt in my mind that right now, no player is more identifiable with Washington football then Clinton Portis. I was watching a replay of the Wild Card Colts-Broncos from 2003, and it seemed almost weird to see Portis playing for someone else.
