If thats all that is missing from the home calling the ins.co. is not a very good idea. If you talk to the agent he would probably say not to file any claim but if you call the claims office directly they will open up a claim on your policy. Even though no $ gets paid out on the claim you will still have a claim showing up on your record. If he is buying a new home or needs renters ins. as funny as it may sound it could affect his premium. Ins. Co. look at frequency as much as they do actually claims paid.
