Re: F... Selling Tickets to the Visiting Team

I was at the game. I was embarrassed for our franchise. 30,000 opposing fans on Monday Night Football? Crazy. I've never witnessed anything like it at Fed Ex or RFK. Unreal. Perhaps we should move the team back to DC where we can only seat 65,000 devoted fans!? Not 95,000 w/ 30,000 terrible towels. It was totally terrible. I would never sell my tickets to unknown opposing fans just for money. If ya wanna make money why not invest in something a little more worthwhile! We were beat down on the field. And having a frenzied opposing fan base of 30 large in the building is pretty depressing if you're a player. We were 6-2 on MNF and people sell their tix? Atleast OBAMA won!

Re: F... Selling Tickets to the Visiting Team

Unfortunately for some people the ticket has become more important than the team. When someone would sell their seats to the opposing teams fans to save a buck or to try to keep a ticket they can't afford, they have become more a fan of the ticket than the team. The "SEASON TICKET" means more than anything else. That's why there is such a long waiting list. I think it must be a prestige thing because they're so hard to get. And they're hard to get because people hold on to them even if times are bad and a morgage is due and the kids need stuff....no wonder Snyder can charge what he does.

Now with PSL's in the league and the time it takes and the money yes it's an investment, people can do with them whatever they want,it's just not a problem for the Skins,it's in every sport and with every team.

If I really want to attend a game, I'll pay a bit more because of the market/demand, but not because you (figuratively) feel ripped off by preseason game costs, etc. I don't see how ST holders can complain about that, they chose the tickets and I understand the want to hold onto them for when you can more easily afford it, but how is that my fault? I'm sitting on the waiting list in hopes that I'll be back in the DC area within a handful of years, if you lose a few hundred a year, that's the risk you took accepting ST's that you couldn't afford, right? So keep your tickets, but don't complain about how much people are willing to pay for them.
It's everyone else thats complaining about the number of opposing fans. My point was, and still is, if Skins fans are able and willing to go and pay fair value, then this is not an issue. I'm not complaining about anything -- just trying to help people understand that most non-rich season ticket holders can't be selective and sell their tickets to Skins fans exclusively, when we need to sell to whoever we can to ensure we don't lose $100's on the games we cannot attend.

This is my experience. Everyone likes to spout some bullsh*t about "So many hardcore fans would have bought these things" That si crap. I have put tickets everywhere. Here, Ebay, Craigslist, everywhere. There are not that many people lookign to buy tickets. When it comes down to it there are just enough people out there willing to buy tickets and when Pitt fans are willing to buy them at 200 and no Skins fan wants pay more than face then what the hell does everyone think is going to happen? This notion that there are so many suffering fans just unable to find a way to get tickets is crap. There are a million ways to get tickets so when 30,000 Pitt fans show up it isn't because sellout ticket holders sold them tickets it is because sellout fans were too cheap to buy them instead.

Its hard for them to track but the article did say they were slowly finding these people and revoking their tickets.
It amazes me that ticket agencies even want redskins tickets...because trust me...with 93,000 tickets available they are not money makers. The only game you can sell for profit is the Cowboys and an occasional big night game. Most games it's a struggle to get anywhere near face value back. I go to most games so it doesn't matter to me but I have sold some games before and I do know the market for them.

Yeah I agree. If someone ever finds this magical market where Skins tickets sell for face to EVERY game then let me know because I take a bath on 4 out of 8 games a year if I have to sell them.

I am so tired of this illogical thinking. To me if you didn't buy tickets to the game you can't complain about who was there. Those in the stadium did their jobs as fans.

Re: F... Selling Tickets to the Visiting Team

I was at the game, and was embarrased. But the most embarrasing part is that the 30k Steelers fans made more noise than the 60k Skins fans. Lets face it FedEx is not a hostile place for visiting teams, we have the largest NFL stadium, right now, that place should be rockin on 3rd downs. If you leave FedEx with your voice, then you didnt do your job as a Redskins fan!

For whatever reason there are a good amount of season tickets in the hands of people who don't go to ANY games. I said earlier in this thread that I don't know the actual season ticket holder for any other seat in my row. They have either been empty or were being used by someone new each time. For the life of me I can't figure out why these season ticket holders don't turn them in becasue I know for a fact that you can not make a profit selling a whole season of tickets in section 419.

As for waiting lists they are nonsense now...when I got on the skins waiting list in the 80's I had to put pen on paper and snailmail it to the redskins. Now a days it takes a click of a mouse...every skins fan in the world is probably on the fn waiting list. Don't get me wrong...the redskins have a huge fanbase...selling out a 93,000 seat stadium is evidence of that but unfortunately all 93,000 are not held by the most diehard fans.

Exactly my point. It isn't like all these people went to a Pitt site and sold their tix. If Skins fans want to complain they need to start buying the tix THEN they can complain. Until then they are part of the problem. I know tix are expensive but buying tix to one game year isn't going to break the bank for a lot of fans. They ought to do that rather than bitch about the stadium or about fan attendance.

There is a very long period to wait to go lower level or else you can pay tailgate fees and there are a few select seats available at seasons end in the lowers.

However, the premium VERY HIGH dollar seats (Clubs/Dreams) There are some available now. No waiting list at all. I'm sure you know why....$$$$$$$$

With that said we are season ticket holders pay for 10 games go to 10 games period, and travel to do so. If you can't afford them and have to worry about flipping games every week I would suggest not buying them. There are alot of folks out there that can and would buy them and use them for every game.

Re: F... Selling Tickets to the Visiting Team

This is pretty disgusting.

Given the nature of the beating we took, the national audience, the bye week we have to keep the foul taste in our mouth, and most of all the black and gold fandom overrunning or beloved home field.... Well that may be top to bottom one of our worst losses in years.

Maybe Zorn was subconsiously foreshadowing this game- after all, our team colors on Monday seemed to be Maroon and Black. Sigh....

Re: F... Selling Tickets to the Visiting Team

I still think this whole thought process is silly. at the HOF game we were "the greatest fans", now because another team a couple hours away, and with lots of local supporters, actually supports their team the We are "the worst fans". If the Skins had scored 2 TDs, the fans would have been rocking. And the pics would have been of the Steeler fans leaving hanging there heads. We lost, it went the other way. Don't turn it into some fight among ourselves...
