I bet Betts could get a fourth.

I'd put him on the block and see what we could get, but I doubt that we get a 3rd or better, which is what I'd need to deal him if I was in charge.

What makes you say that. At this point it would be virtually pointless. He's still productive and on top of that he would provide us with about $6 million worth of dead cap. Plus if Cowher comes over you can bet your ass that he's not going anywhere.

That's my point. Portis is here. Cowher would run him for 2000+ yards.

Speaking of the draft. The ultimate irony would be finding a way to get Sam Bradford and have him play for the Redskins. Oh well, think about for a second it'll come to you.

wait a minute, if we traded him we'd still take a cap hit? THat's stupid. A trade is just transfering a contract, it should all go to the other team.

And Cowher coaches defense not offense, plus everyone would have to learn another system. So, no he wouldn't get 200 yards.

I feel he's very ineffective on punt returns, and on receptions he seems to have reached number 4 as an option behind Moss, Cooley and whoever's at running back.

Got to shore up the O and D- Lines.
Stop with flashy and go with solid.

When you trade a player, all of the remaining signing bonus counts towards the trading team's current salay cap. So we cannot trade Portis...

DRAFT TALK .. it's f*cking December .. how can everyone have such "great" ideas for next season without even letting this shit storm fully settle .. this team was 6-2 .. this is bad .. real bad .. this team went from guts and never say die (gibbs) to reminding me of a norv turner team .. i'm more than dissapointed .. i'm devastated .. anyone who thinks we have anything to trade is hurting in the brain dept.. there are hardly ever any NFL trades .. it's a mess on both lines .. go out and BUY a D-LINE and O-LINE.. i don't who is available or going to be available .. but I think the bashing of our draft picks in 08 isn't going to help much .. DT #11 will be solid .. so will FD#86 .. I believed in Zorn hole heartedly .. but this was really put a black cloud over him .. the bashing of Portis .. the never throw down field mentality .. 4 weeks ago I would have said Cowher was a pipe dream .. now i'm not so sure

I saw Campbell set up to throw down field four or five times today. He ended up checking down or throwing intermediate passes.

As for trades, on draft day trades happen quite often. I'm not talking trading player for player, I'm talking players for picks or sweetening a draft pick deal.

We need a influx of talent. By that I mean getting quality free agents like Hanyesworth and T. Suggs. Draft an offensive lineman with the 1st pick, trade Betts for a few picks, and re- sign Hall.

All I know at this point is, with the way we're playing we should be able to get a high quality player with our first pick.

Not gonna happen. Haynesworth and Suggs are going to command top dollar and, based on my review of our cap situation, we will not be able to afford to sign two guys of that caliber. Besides, I don't think the Ravens and Titans will let those guys go. As for trading Betts, we wouldn't get more than a 5th round or, at best, a 4th rounder for him. Finally, I'm not sure Hall will re-sign with us. He wants to play for a winning team and, right now, we look like one of the worst teams in the league. Unless Hall really wants to play for the team he grew up rooting for, I think there's a decent chance he'll leave in the offseason.

Re: Draft Picture Update, Bengals Aftermath

If Vinny Cerratto and Daniel Snyder handle another offseason, we will be even worse next season. We are slowly degenerating back to pre-Gibbs years. How much longer will Snyder allow Vinny to be GM?

This is an ego issue. By firing Cerrato, Snyder would have to (1) admit he has been wrong about Cerratto all these years. (2)In order to hire a qualified GM and have a qualified GM want to work here, Snyder would have to let that GM run things with out his interefrence. I am not sure Snyder wants that. Having Cerratto here, he can control him and the Skins.
