Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!
Quote:
In college, at the University of Tennessee, Turdsworth fought with a teammate. It doesn't end there. He left practice, got a long pole, and returned to practice looking for his "teammate." I don't think he was looking to resolve his differences with his teammate in a dignified manner by jousting. During Titans training camp, Turdsworth got into a tussle with "teammate" Justin Hartwig, kicked Hartwig in the chest, and had to be restrained by teammates. During the now infamous Titans-Cowboys game, Turdsworth stomped on Cowboys' center Andre Gurode's face. Gurode needed 30 stitches and Haynesworth narrowly missed Gurode's eye. According to some, Turdsworth actually removed Gurode's helmet and then stomped on Gurode's face. To top it off, when Turdsworth was led off the field, he was yelling at his coach Jeff Fischer for God knows what. To top it off, Turdsworth has a reputation of being an immensely talented underachiever who didn't produce at a very high level until his contract was about up. His stats back up that reputation. During his first 5 years in the league, Turdsworth averaged less than 2 sacks per season. In the final year of his rookie deal, he racked up contract year, he more than truppled his sack production with 6 sacks. This year, he's got 8.5 sacks. In my view, the risk of Turdsworth turning out to be a free agent bust is pretty high. But even if he turns out to be an excellent player for some team, we could probably have two guys like Karlos Dansby and Dunta Robinson for the same price. In short, he's not worth the risk or the price. |
