Question is will he ever, I mean is this a condition he'll have to play and live with indefinitey?

Could be an excellent situational pass rusher if he's healthy next year...not at 8 mil of course though.

He is not the best player on the team, by a long shot, so his compensation seems incorrect.
This is the major problem with the practice of back loading contracts.
How do you back load a two year contract and if I'm correct we just assumed his deal with the fins.

Good question and the article doesnt say. I cant believe that trying to play football is very good for the healing process.

As said before, our ends would be a lot better if we could get pressure up the middle to help them out.

it makes him the 2nd or 3rd highest paid player on the skins next year if nothing changes. that 8 mill cap space, used wisely, could really have a major impact on our team next year. JT seems like a real professional, wish we had him when he was younger thoo.

go skins!!!

just speculation on my part and reading into what JT said; i could see what he was saying as meaning he is going to retire after this year given his injury and last seasons drama . . . just didnt want to come out and make a personal "im retiring" statement when there are still games to focus on. professional move, for that he gets my respect if the speculation is correct.

go skins!!

Considering Carter is set to make close to 7M next year, thats 15M - about 1/8th of our 2009 cap - for two DEs who can't rush the passer or stop the run. We would be fools to keep Taylor on the roster next year. That 8M would be far better spent going after haynesworth, suggs, OTs, extending Hall, etc... you know, things that can actually help us rebuild our team. Parcells was smart enough to know that a 34year old DE with hollywood aspirations and an 8.5M cap hit has no place on a team that is rebuilding. We should learn from our mistakes and move on.

Personally, I think Taylor is just trying to get out of his contract here so he can go play for a team he views as being a "contender" in 2009. If we're smart, we'll do exactly what Parcells did last year - hold on to him and hope a team that beleives it is "one player away from a superbowl" makes an offer. I would take a 4th rounder for him and be supremely happy. If not, then we can cut him.

His 1 1/2 sacks are really going to bring the other teams fighting to sign him. Mabe we could even get a few teams fighting for him and throwing draft picks at us to make the deal happen.

Possibly, but JT did blame the scheme (in a very politically correct way) and his injuries in the interview. It cant hurt us to hold on to him, atleast until we need the cap space to make moves. If he choses to retire, then i'm pretty sure we would get a 3rd round comp pick for him in 2010, wouldnt we?

The first step to improvement is being able to realize the truth. He isn't for what we got out of him this year.

Suppose he was willin to take a pay cut. What options are avialable with no cap in 2010 and in career almost over. Could he just say "I'll play for four mil," and we make the other four disappear

I'm not either! I'd settle for .8 mil and contribute just as much even at near twice his age!
