Re: Bill Parcells has opt-out clause, could walk away from Dolphins
I don't understand why we even bother to bring this up?
The likelihood Parcells walks away is slim, regardless of financial incentive. The likelihood that Snyder would consider bringing him in is even slimmer. Seems like a pointless discussion.

1) Parcells is one of the best personnel guys in football, and has a serious financial motivation to walk away from his current situation 2) Our front office makes plenty of blunders and is under heavy criticism 3) Snyder has a lust for ridiculous, spontaneous offseason acquisitions 4) If Parcells was willing to work with Jerry Jones, why wouldn't he work with Snyder? I don't think we'll go after him, nor am I suggesting we should. However, it's worth a discussion. Thanks for trying to shit all over it though. Good try.

1) Just because Parcells has a financial incentive to opt out doesn't mean he will. At this stage in their careers, these guys have made enough money. After all, he's got a decent financial incentive to stay, too. 2) The clause was put into his contract clearly because he had a working relationship with Huizenga. He asked for the out clause in case he ended up with an owner he couldn't work for. So far, we have no evidence that will be the case. 3) You damn well know Cerrato isn't going anywhere. 4) Parcells is into rebuilding projects. The Patriots, the Jets, the Cowboys, and now the Dolphins. He likes to take teams from the basement and turn them around. The Redskins are not his cup of tea, there's already a foundation in place here. 5) The 'Skins don't have the immediate cap space for him to make the changes to transform this into a Parcells type team. He'd need to acquire a strong NT for the 3-4, a copious amount of linebackers because he likes big ones and none of ours are big, etcetera etcetera. This thread just serves to fuel rampant speculation started by examining one little out clause in his contract. There's no point in discussing it in the context of the Redskins if you know anything about Parcells' past.

No offense, but whether or not it's "worth" a discussion really isn't your call. If you don't think it is, feel free not to discuss it. A big chunk of this site is based on "what ifs" and speculation. Again, I personally never said I expect him to opt out of his contract, nor did I say I think we should or will obtain his services. I just said financially it would be a smart move. I agree that there's an overwhelming chance he won't end up here or anywhere else but Miami next year. But he could leave Miami if he wanted, and nothing is out of bounds with Danny. So I started a thread.

However I've got a right to my opinion, and I like to think the Warpath is a little better than the numerous boards out there that so often fan the flames of unfounded rumors. You're well within your right to start threads like this, I just happen to think I'm doing a board a service by coming along and giving my educated opinion as to why it's pointless to discuss. No biggie.

It certainly wasn't my intention to dumb down the site by posting a mindless thread. But for the record, did I post anything that was an "unfounded rumor?" I simply pointed out the fact that he had the opt-out clause, and maybe opened the door to entertain some speculation. Who we draft, who gets fired, who's a free agent, who will be offered the dreaded "vet min..." It's all part of this board, and all speculation, often times based on nothing but thin air. Anyway, I don't want to beat a dead horse. At this point I fully expect this thread to slowly fade down the front page and slip off into oblivion.

I don't understand, why bother to reply if you feel it's a useless thread. Anytime Parcells involved it's BIG news. Unless your new to the NFL. Why don't you start a thread that everyone is interested in. Personally I thought it was a very interesting topic.

No,Vinny has naked pics of Snyder and Tom Cruise

Seriously DK, grow up, just because you don't agree with it doesn't mean that it's useless to discuss the possibility of. If you were that smart, you might be the GM. |

Re: Bill Parcells has opt-out clause, could walk away from Dolphins
Apparently the Lions, Jets, Browns and Raiders are all interested in Parcells. It would be kind of cool to see him go to Detroit. Their fans deserve a winner for once.

Re: Bill Parcells has opt-out clause, could walk away from Dolphins
Laugh all you want but if Parcells goes to the Raiders or Browns either one of those teams would make the playoffs. Both teams have a lot of talent, the problem is the FO.
