Because it deemphasizes the RT need significantly. You'd only take a Center at No. 13 if you were absoultely confident that he would start on day one and would not need competition for the next five years, obviously. Equally obviously, if you could get a franchise type tackle that fits all the same critera, you'd pass on the Center for the tackle.

But if you are comparing a flawed Tackle prospect to an ideal Center prospect, you'd obviously go with the Center. It's just a big whos' available game.
