Redskins Draft Grades from all over

kind of odd that its unanimous that we got lucky for orakpo to slide to us at 13 (which means a good pick for our slot, grade A), so im guessing that not having 2nd and 4th round picks hurt us in the grading?

cowherd (i actually like the guy as a radio personality, not expert analyst) did his grades today and the guy is testing my morning radio loyalties. He gives his seahawks, eagles and other teams A by considering FA signings of housz, peters etc. he even gave seahawks a higher grade b/c hassleback will not be as injured = more starts.

But when it came to the skins, he doesnt consider AH or hall into our "draft grade". the dude gives seahawks credit for their draft b/c they sign housz and hassleback wont be as injured yet he doesnt even mention we signed the gem of FA in AH without giving up a 1st rounder like the eagles did for peters?

cowherd i used to like you, i consider myself pretty even keeled but your hate for teh skins is getting to be too much. he didnt talk about orakpo, didnt give AH a mention when he used FA for other teams but all he said about the skins is how stupid we were to make our selection right away and that he is able to read the mind snyder as doing it as a horse n pony show to make up with JC?

OTM is slowly coming around to not like cowherd. (yeah 3rd person talk!)

Seriously, how can you say a guy is going to be more healthy, or that an FA signing makes your draft better? I understand you don't have to draft those positions as much now, but these things took place before the draft and shouldn't impact it.

Great points. I was thinking those same things when i listened today. I guess everyone has their own biases, and you're right - he's no expert - just a guy who's great to listen to. He was gushing so much about Sanchez today but i imagine he would be BURNING us if we had gotten him.

I heard Cowherd today too, his logic was a bit flawed. First of all, it's fine to grade the draft -- it just depends on what your terms are. Obviously you can't grade the draftees based on what they've done on the field as a pro because they haven't played yet. But you can certainly grade the draft based on the information already available, the colleges they came from, the systems they were in, how those systems are adaptable to the pro game, how they fared against the competition, their history of injuries, football smarts, their skill sets as they relate to other players at the same position, blah, blah, blah. So yes, there are ways to assess what a team was able to accomplish by the players that were available to them.

Without a doubt, the praise given to the Jets for taking Sanchez would be converted into utter contempt if he were snatched up by Dan Snyder. The fact remains though, our quarterback situation was much more settled than it was in New York. So the criticism might have been valid.
