Re: Sources Confirm Portis-Sellers Incident
That's what they used to say about the Giants with all the bickering they would have under Coughlin...look at them now

Re: Sources Confirm Portis-Sellers Incident
Hey Cerrato and Snyder, I missed your memo. Is the front office off limits? I am not on this sight everyday. I can understand your fragile egos can not take criticism, humor is a great coping mechanism, I will back off the FO so you guys do not get upset.

Re: Sources Confirm Portis-Sellers Incident
We're not terrible at drafting players, but our overall personnel management is pretty weak when compared to the NYG. Plus Coughlin is a lot more experienced and hard-nosed than Zorn.
Maybe Portis should have gotten in Sellers face and told him to step it up rather than go behind his back to a coach and ask for his benching. Regardless, Sellers has been a disappointment for sure thus far. He got his Pro-Bowl and his extension. Maybe he's taking his foot off the gas so to speak. I hope not.

Re: Sources Confirm Portis-Sellers Incident
Yup. But Portis is more of a diva and a mouth than a leader or a tough guy. I don't ever remember seeing him fired up on the sideline or trying to pump up his teammates. And not every player has to be that guy, but coaches and management have asked him more than once to take a leadership role, and he hasn't answered the call. That's disappointing. Sure, he stuck around DC and worked out at Redskins Park in the offseason, but changing your weight-lifting venue doesn't make you a leader.

Re: Sources Confirm Portis-Sellers Incident
This team doesnt have any leaders. With all the mess going on in the organization now I cant help but think that at this moment in time the Redskins may be the worst organization in the NFL.

Re: Sources Confirm Portis-Sellers Incident
As usual, Portis' mouth gets him into trouble. I understand offering suggestions (which I'll cover in a minute), but requesting a player be benched is over the line IMO. And if he truly felt that way, it should've been a closed door meeting with Zorn & Sherman Smith and kept quiet.
I'm normally a "Coach Portis needs to STFU and play" guy, but he and I do agree on the issues in the run game. From the link SS posted: "My suggestion always is to play smashmouth; on defense let's play smashmouth, on offense let's play smashmouth," he said. "If you wonder what I'm thinking or what I want to do, that'll never change. Let's go mano-a-mano, you line up over there and we'll line up over here and let's do it....I can't answer why we [don't] do it. I wonder the same thing."....... ......"If me and Mike both go downhill, then you've got one person trying to stop me and Mike Sellers," Portis said. "Impossible, if you ask me. But running sideways, Mike bounced out, I went in and the guy made a play. That should be a walk-in touchdown." I think over the past few years the Raiders have been the worst organization but since week 2 the Skins have held that designation. This is an oorganization that is in complete disarray. Its sad. |
