Yes, Morrison is a very good fit. 133 tackles last year:
Quote:
2009 Scouting Report - Scouts Inc.
Grade: 78 | Key

Comment: Morrison is an extremely instinctive LB who has the size, strength and speed to make plays all over the field. He is very quick to read and react. He's physical against the run and is a good solid tackler. Morrison can take on and shed blocks quickly. He has good lateral quickness and is agile enough in space to make plays against quick change-of-direction runners. He knows how to play with knee bend and he uses his hands well play off contact. In passing situations, he does a good job of gaining depth quickly and reacting to patterns in zone situations. He can anticipate and get a good break on the short to intermediate throws. He is a player that should continue to contribute at a high level and does not get enough credit for his production.
Keep in mind 78 is a pretty high rating on Scouts Inc. Ryan Clady is a 79 as was Samuels. Rocky McIntosh is another player they could use. Raiders need a SAM linebacker and Rocky has experience at that spot. Campbell and Rocky for Morrison is a trade I could get on board with. Otherwise I would rather keep Rocky and see if he play ILB.

Strange they'd add a solid LB and give one away at the same time. How are they supposed to build a better D without accumulating talent?

McClain is on par with Patrick Willis. Thats why they made the choice to go with McClain.

I love McClain, in fact I was kinda hoping if we somehow ended up w/2 1st round picks that we could get him, but this pick was still a bit surprising. With Al Davis I guess that's part of what he tries to do.

Morrison is a stud, I would trade him for McIntosh or Campbell.

I feel sorry for McClain. He deserves better than Oakland. He would have looked great in b&g.

JLC is not giving up on the Haynesworth story.

Actually if you look at Oakland they have a very nice D. They've recently picked up Groves, Wimbley. They beat some good teams last year and could surprise this year. The other player I like, would be Thomas Howard also a LB with the Raiders.

They've been shopping Morrison for a while, with no takers. I think he's pretty decent, but for some reason teams don't like him. Or it could be more a product of teams figuring KM will just be released at some point.

Some SEC love:
LSU churns out NFL players, but they aren’t living up to expectations | NFL - The News Tribune

A little on Landry
Quote:
The years passed. Again and again, NFL teams kept evaluating LSU players and seeing the one who might break the trend. They put in the time. Did the scouting. Made their grades. Marcus Spears was a can’t-miss. So was LaRon Landry. Dorsey, too. Bowe, Russell, Dorsey and Spears are among those who’ve been criticized for their conditioning habits. Others have been chided for work-ethic concerns. Their talent has spent years getting cold in the shadow of those worries.........

Yes, there are success stories. Cincinnati’s Andrew Whitworth is a reliable offensive lineman. Arizona receiver Early Doucet showed potential at the end of last season. Washington safety LaRon Landry has started 47 games in three seasons. The Chiefs remain hopeful that their LSU draft picks can right their wrongs.

HTTR.
You have just repeated the formula that we have been following for what, the past 10 years? Few real complete drafts with relying on FA acquisitions of other teams rejects? The best defensive players we have had in the past 10 years were all drafted (Bailey, Smoot, Taylor). Lavar was decent for us in the beginning also. Everyone we have acquired via free agency on both sides of the ball for the most part have underperformed with the exception of a healthy Randy Thomas and Santana Moss. Other than Moss, who has been the most productive pass catcher for us? Chris Cooley, one of our best draftees!! Our best offensive lineman was also a product of the draft. Sorry Charlie, but we trade JC and AH for as many picks as possible before 6pm tonight or our rebuilding efforts go to shit for another year.

Morrison and the 2nd round pick plus 3rd round pick next year. for JC and Haynesworth. Think the Raiders would pull the trigger?

Still at least one other team involved potentially

Nevermind Kindle to the Dolphins, looks like they may have just traded their 5th for Cliff Avril (in which case they won't need Kindle)
