I normally agree with your posts, but not this.

Portis has performed marginally well this year. He wasnt on pace for a monster year, or anything like that.

If Torain, or any of the other backs are running well, especially if we are a playoff team by the point Portis could return, why would they go back to a guy who hasn't played in 6 weeks and is probably out of shape?

Seriously....when playoffs are here or on the line, you stick with whats working. Torain could be hot by midseason.

Like others have said. My money is that CP is done as a redskin.

I doubt he's done as a Redskins but he's no longer our Number 1 RB

He's in the final year of his ginourmous contract.

If he is a redskin next year, it means that he has agreed to a lesser contract, and most likely a much lesser role.

Knowing Portis, do you really believe he'd agree to that?

I'd guess he figures that he could still start in the league, and get Starter money. I see a handful of teams wanting him as a backup, but i dont think anybody would want him as a starter...could i be wrong?

CP has already proved your wrong on several counts before SS84, so why not again? Hell you didn't even think he would be on the team this year.

Clinton Portis out four to six weeks with groin injury
Updated 3:35 p.m.
Washington Redskins running back Clinton Portis will miss four to six weeks with a third-degree separation of his left groin, Coach Mike Shanahan said Wednesday, leaving the bulk of the team's carries - at least temporarily - for second-year back Ryan Torain, who has a history of injuries himself.

Portis suffered the injury in the third quarter of Sunday's 17-12 victory at Philadelphia, a game in which he rushed for 55 yards and Torain added 70, including a touchdown. Shanahan said Portis's injury would not require surgery.

"It's a temporary setback," Shanahan said. "Those things happen during the season. Clinton's tough. He'll get a lot of rehab here. Hopefully, it'll be four weeks rather than six weeks, but a third-degree separation is off the bone.

lolololol....you know Solid just cant wait for CP to be gone. I know CP has been a great player for us and actaully like his game. But Im kinda done with his comments and his attitude since Gibbs left was just bad. So if it is over, wish him the best, but im ready to see a new number 1 in the backfield.

Can we just please let SS84 create the thread when its officially over for CP, whether its this year or in a couple?

Re: Portis heard his groin "pop" (out 4-6 weeks)

It's a long season. He could be out until week 9 or 10, of 17 total weeks. I wouldn't put a fork in Portis this year yet. Heck, if we make the playoffs, he might even have relatively fresh legs then.

Like i said before. I made peace with my Portis issue, and decided that i'd let his play on the field this season form my opinion. He seemed like a changed guy. He looked quicker, faster...

Im not going to make a thread when he leaves here. I cant deny his role to this team over the last 7 seasons. He proved me wrong this year. I admit.

But its time for a change. He will find work with another team, maybe even this one, but not as a starter, i dont think.

Re: Portis heard his groin "pop" (out 4-6 weeks)

His days as a full time starter were over even before this injury.

But as a role player, 3rd down back, he's definitely still valuable. I would guess he would still want to continue on here in D.C. with Shanahan and would take a reasonable contact to do so. We'll see how things go and if Shanahan wants him back, that's probably the key more than anything.
