You couldn't have stated that OP in the on-going McNabb thread?

I think both sides knew this contract would work for both parties.

Re: mcnabb deal brilliant
Benching McNabb killed whatever trade value that he had left.
The fact is, 2 coaches in the span of 8-9 months have essentially moved on from him. McNabb would be lucky to fetch a 6th round pick at this point. And at his age, he would be lucky to play 1 more full season without injury. DM5 isnt gonna be another Favre....

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday
When I worked for the Panthers years ago different teams had different reputations and you always liked working some teams more than others. You had the teams who had their acts together from management down i.e. the Steelers, Patriots, the teams who were average, and the dysfunctional teams (management on down) who garnered little respect across the board such as the Bengals. After years of dysfunction and piss poor management the Skins are one of those dysfunctional teams. We have gone to one of the most respected organizations to one of the greatest laughing stocks in the NFL.

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday
I think this could really backfire on Shanahan if Grossman is his usual self and/or the locker room is really divided. I can see a difficult offseason ahead. Maybe that's what MS is banking on; hit bottom now & prepare everyone for it. I question the timing of the move, hope he's got a plan.

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday
We make "Crazy Al" Davis look rational, and his Raider look like a well-oiled machine. I am so hoping that Jason Campbell has a very productive career there. The Shanahans have set this franchise back at least 2 more years now that Donovan is good as gone.

There's definitely going to be a market for him. Just listening to NFL radio they were speculating that "several" teams will be interested in trading for him.

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday
Check the McNabb is a Redskin thread, I was as against McNabb as anyone. BUT, JC was done here, if the cost was a 2nd and a 4th for the attention to finally move forward, and get a HC and GM who have no allegiances and no axe to grind then it was just a necessary cost of business. McNabb is who everyone thought he was, and that's what it cost to get an offseason of stability at the qb spot. Yeah, next year we will do it all again, but the fact that we are so drained still falls mainly on the triumvirate of DS/VC/JZ. Now, if next year we don't have a solid option at qb, and a stronger OL/DL then we can start looking at MS and BA, but for now, this is what a stealth rebuilding team looks like.

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday
After thinking it over for a few hours I'm in the boat of hey why not?
McNabb clearly isn't the answer here for Shanahan, so why not evaluate the other guys? I heard Kevin Sheehan make a good point and I'm paraphrasing here, doesn't matter if you're a bad guy like AH or a great guy like DM, if you're not getting it done Shanahan is going to move on, and he doesn't care who's feelings he hurts. |

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday
I'm not necessarily arguing with you, but didn't McNabb take the Eagles to the playoffs 2 of those last 3yrs, including the Conference Championships one time?

We are a bad team with a lot of needs, are those needs filled better with winning short term and winding up with a 12-16th pick or evaluating our young, newer players and winding up with a 5-10 pick in each round. Add in maybe a 3rd rounder for McNabb and we can fill some needs and improve (hopefully) for 2011.
