If a pass rush and sacks are so "critical" (using your words), why is that of the top 13 teams that led the NFL in sacks in 2012 over half (eight) of them did not even make the playoffs? 2012 NFL Team Defense Stats - National Football League - ESPN I am not trying to discount the importance of sacks, just trying to say that it is a fraction of the game and they are not as critical as you and the media want to make it out to be. Stopping the run and running the ball take a back seat in the media coverage of the NFL that wants and tries to make it a Qb driven league and all that Bull Shit. Lost in all of this is our defense is ranked 5th at stopping the run and we are the #1*team at running the ball on offense. Last edited by Defensewins; 01-03-2013 at 06:29 PM. |

We also won without Fred Davis and a number of key guys. Are they any less valuable going forward? |

I think Jackson will be a priority to keep around with Rak coming back off an injury. He's a RFA, so we'll be able to match any offers if he does indeed hit the market. I love what he's done this year, he's made some plays that I don't think Rak would make, and I think you could also say that Rak has shown he's able to make plays that Jackson probably can't. |

Re: Is there room for Orakpo and Rob Jackson?
I keep hearing mixed info on whether he's restricted or not, haven't gotten a 100% answer yet
So you have money to keep either Rob Jackson or D. Hall, you go with...

Easy, Rob Jackson! Who needs D Hall when we got Domonique Johnson?!

I'm curious to know what he is as well, I know it's his 4th year in the league but I'm not sure whether the uncapped year set him back a year in terms of RFA/UFA status.

Cutting Jamaal Brown will free up another $1M. I really like DHall and I want to keep him, but not at $8.3M cap number next year. Plus his release fee is a tiny $300K. He is the prime candidate to renegotiate a new deal so we can free up some more cap space. |

Re: Is there room for Orakpo and Rob Jackson?
Orakpo doesn't have as many interceptions because coaches recognize his talents as a pass rusher are so significant that he's asked to rush the passer more often than Jackson is.
Jackson is a very valuable depth player, not much more. I'd let him walk if he gets offered a big deal. Orakpo is a pass rushing threat, not many players like that out there.

Rob Jackson. D. Hall is not worth what his cap number will be next near. Not even by a long shot.
