He is not the best player on the team, by a long shot, so his compensation seems incorrect. This is the major problem with the practice of back loading contracts. |

How do you back load a two year contract and if I'm correct we just assumed his deal with the fins.

Personally, I think Taylor is just trying to get out of his contract here so he can go play for a team he views as being a "contender" in 2009. If we're smart, we'll do exactly what Parcells did last year - hold on to him and hope a team that beleives it is "one player away from a superbowl" makes an offer. I would take a 4th rounder for him and be supremely happy. If not, then we can cut him. |

Re: Jason Taylor says he's not worth $8 million
Possibly, but JT did blame the scheme (in a very politically correct way) and his injuries in the interview. It cant hurt us to hold on to him, atleast until we need the cap space to make moves. If he choses to retire, then i'm pretty sure we would get a 3rd round comp pick for him in 2010, wouldnt we?

Who gives a crap about the money. A third round draft pick is worth a lot more than $8 million, and he's not worth that either.

Re: Jason Taylor says he's not worth $8 million
Hey Gord, it was a second round pick and a sixth next year that we gave up for Jason Taylor. Plus at the time we had $9M in cap space and we used it all on him. Great job by our FO. Imagine what we could have done with $9m in the free agent market.

Re: Jason Taylor says he's not worth $8 million
whats the problem? he was UNHEALTHY all season. i started a thread dedicated to this player/situation already...
if hes willing to take any paycut...8 mil...whatever....thats good enough for me...if he performs elite again next season...well then we finally made out. But like i said in another thread...WE NEED more talent around him as well. If we can make a solid pickup like Haynesworth we wont feel the need to replace our ends so much. And we can stop worrying about sacking the quarterback.

hope he takes a pay cut if that what he thinks. He will rebound with the right coordinator and right player with him.

Re: Jason Taylor says he's not worth $8 million
I'd love to bring him back at a cheaper price. He isn't healthy. At all. I'd like to see the guy suit up for us at least whole year healthy. I guarantee he can be very valuable to us.
