I don't see him keeping this up all year.

We'll see.

He certainly looks to be much improved and he has the weapons around him along with that nasty D.

JC will be the man in D.C. until the wheels fall off, count on that.

In fact, unless Brunell has a miracle of a turn around, you can expect to see Campbell this year and kick off the '07 campaign.

Brunell isn't injured, that's pure speculation. He's just getting old.

Who is available next year?

Back-up QBs with experience (although they may be super-smart) and college material that will have to ride the pine for three years no matter what their college hype happens to be.

That, folks, it an example of jumping the gun.

This thread wasnt started to jump the gun, its not that bad of a question in my opinion.

Thank about it guys, two years ago Brunell was HORRIBLE, and we all wanted Ramsey to start next year, but he looked horrible when he was but it too. So we went from having the "QB of the future" in Ramsey, to nothing.

Go back even farther, when Ramsey was the "QB of the future" and we went out and got Brunell.

We're Redskins fans...weird shit happens. All of us know Gibbs prefers to win with vetern QBs. So if he cuts Brunell, theres a 99% chance he bring in a vetern to "compete with Jason, but Jason is our guy", just like he said with Ramsey.

So, this thread assumes Brunell sucks, and then Campbell comes in and doesnt look like an NFL QB....So my guess is we do not draft a QB, even if we have the first pick. We would get a vet, and draft dline or CB. Matt Shaub is an option but I think he'll be overhyped and expensive (not that Synder cares about either of those things).

I think Kurt Warner will probably be aviable because they wont pay him, they'll want to hand off the reigns to Leinert. Charlie Batch will probably be available. Brian Griese will be available, and istn a bad option. He could start right now but they want their young guy in there.

Jake Plummer will probably be available...
Either Losman or Holcome will be available...

Right on. Couldn't have said it better myself.
Seeing those options doesn't exactly make me want to get another qb. I guess we really are stuck with brunell and campbell for better or worse.

Re: Who is available next year (qb)?

SkinsnCanes, to bring another quarterback into the equation at this point isn't only pre-mature, but senseless for a couple of reasons.

1. Jason Campbell, for all intent and purposes, hasn't played yet. We've seen spurts here and there, but not enough to be conclusive in my opinion. The jury is still out, and until he has beyond a shadow of a doubt, and I mean there is no question that he's not capable of starting in the NFL, this franchise will probably live and die with that decision. Literally!

2. The franchise has so much locked up in this kid, and why have his confidence shaken in the least bit by bringing in a new body. Probably a journey man at that.

When we brought in Brunell, it was for the most part thought of as, tops, a three to four year deal I think. He was never brought here to be the quarterback of the future, so to speak.

I know, and I agree. I think Campbell needs to play and we need to see what he has. I never said anything about our current QB situtation, I was just saying that whoever started this thread did so ASSUMING that Campbell and Brunell both play and suck, and wanted to know who would be available. Obviously I hope Burnell steps it up, retires, and then Campbell steps in and is the best QB the league has ever seen.

Agreed.

Quite frankly, I hope Brunell just retires this year

Re: Who is available next year (qb)?

We not only need to let Campbell play, but we need to let him play a full season AND begin another one to chart the progress from his "rookie" year of actually playing and his second year. If he still looks like he did in the first game, like Ramsey...try someone else.

Even Alex Smith looks better in his second year, although he still stinks.
