"Oh Brother "!Gibbs Right Choice But Maybe Too Late ,thanks Old Man!

Joe Gibbs probably made his quarterback switch decision a few weeks too late to have an impact on this lost Washington season, but at least he did it.

What was always strange about the coach’s reluctance to switch to Jason Campbell was that the young quarterback was Joe’s pick in the draft two years ago. It was Gibbs’ decision to use two extra draft picks and his own first-round pick on Campbell.

Campbell was beaten down by the implications that he wasn’t ready to handle the complicated offense of Al Saunders. When a club starts saying that Campbell has had four different offensive coordinators in the last four seasons, well the tag is that he’s not smart enough to handle the playbook. And how backward is that thinking?

You mean you keep playing Mark Brunell because he knows a 500-page playbook better than Campbell? Now, that really is dumb. Isn’t it supposed to be about production, wins and losses and which player gives your team the best chance to win?

When I first met Campbell at the scouting combine, I told him how much Terry Bradshaw loved his arm. He was so thankful that someone recognized his ability. The only way Campbell and Redskins will ever know whether he can compete in the NFL is by playing.

Finally, Gibbs basically has gotten a free pass in Washington because of his past Hall of Fame accomplishments and those three Super Bowls. Everyone has been blamed but him
OH YEAH THIS IS A ARTICLE TAKEN FROM FOX SPORTS!!! I didn't make it up

If this is the article in its entirity, I'm pretty sure it didn't offer up a single fact. Not sure exactly what I'm supposed to be facing, then.

Yea um lets see did it ever occur to you that campbell didnt understand the playbook and therefor would not be able to understand the plays.

Also hes not the reason we beat Carolina no matter what we say, our defense showed up and Chris Cooley managed to make a great play. In my opinion Brunell could have done the same if not better, but hey thats him growing.

PS

Insulting our coach, our savior is not a way to make friends, stop being a rat escaping a sinking ship

No one loves Gibbs more than I do. But let's face the facts. He has not done a good job in his three years here. Giving up picks for Brunell was a bad move. In 04 he did a bad job calling plays and handling the offese. He was better in 0-5. But signing off on both LLoyd and Randle El was a bad move. No need for both when we had so many other pressing needs. Bad move giving up a draft pick for Duckett. I could go on and on. He is the team president which means he the buck stops with him. If it were not for the defense last year then it would have really been ugly. The whole QB situation this year was just a frickin joke. He should have thanked Brunell for last year and went with JC right after 05 was over. Bottom line is we all know Gibbs is loyal to a fault. See Bobby Beatherd.

There certainly have been erroneous personel moves made, but regardless of who's fault that was, how does that change Gibbs' legacy as a football coach.

As an on field coach, I feel Gibbs has yet to make a wrong decision on the field. Of course, he's mortal, and time will tell what ultimately went right and what went wrong, but I don't think its right to go around second guessing the guy when you really don't know what decisions, if ANY, he's been on the wrong side of. We have NO reason to believe that Gibbs doesn't know exactly what he's doing with his on field decisions.

Obviously, as far as personel goes, he has no successful legacy to speak of so I believe its a bit more reasonable to critize moves that appear questionable. Giving away draft picks is an obvious mistake that he's made, but in multiple situations (Portis, Cooley, J. Campbell), it has paid off for us. Regarding this free agent class, lets watch them down the stretch. It's hard to notice personal improvement when a team is struggling, so as the team improves these next few weeks, try to see if Carter/Archuleta and co. are doing their jobs. Arch, IMO, has done a great job on special teams, and if he's willing to work his way back into favor, I believe he deserves the chance.

I really doubt it. From what we've been reading lately, it seems like the coaching staff has given up on him. But I could be totally wrong.

football isn't exactly rocket science. pass routes are the same everywhere, and the holes for the running plays might have different numbers, but they are the same place in the line. if Campbell could be successful learning all those different offenses, then he must be a quick learner. Gibbs just prefers veterans

Hey soldier boy or girl, if your going to reference an article, give us link, don't make me hunt for it. It not only makes it easier for everyone to be informed on your topic, but it also gives your argument more credibility. Of couse I'm assuming you created this thread to argue your point and not just to be an ass.

So far Campbell has played just OK and has not produced any more plays or numbers to back any speculation that he could have won more games than MB. His last game he produced a total of 118 passing yards and 60 came on one play, game before I think he threw for around 189 yards which are not states which says we waited too long. How can anyone say that not playing Rock is a mistake unless some people here have access to our pratice's and can see how he is performing. Saying that we should have but Campbell on the field right away for the picks we gave up is just crazy. YOU PUT THEM ON THE FIELD WHEN THEY ARE READY TO PLAY AND CAN HOPEFULY DO BETTER ThAN THE CURRENT QB.

This is some kinky stuff. First grow balls. Then chew on the team (parts and players unspecified.) Finally, nip something in the butt. (OK, so my toddlers do this to my wife.)

Please keep the posts clean so I can read them in the office.

Thanks. ;-)
