1 -- with him there, you have an emergency back up, in case someone in the 2 deep gets hurt. He's spent time in the system, and can fill in if disaster strikes. (But hopefully your back ups on the 53 man roster are flexible enough to bounce between right and left so Martin's (or any PS guy frankly) services aren't needed. So he'd really be there if BOTH our Guards went down ... not a nice thought to consider).

2 -- you see the potential of growth, and you want to see if you can develop it.


But i think if he makes the PS, it will be the last year he's here. I am not a football coach, or talent evaluator ... but I don't see a long term path for him in the NFL.

Neither do I, that’s why I question keeping him around. I think it’s just a waste of a spot myself. Guess we will see. But it is nice to see he has to fight for it instead of just being given the spot because he was drafted like previous regimes....
