The Eagles fans watch him every week and they don't feel this way about him. Donovan is a good quarterback who has been dinged up for the last three years. He and the offense he plays in lean heavily on the screen pass which pads his stats and doesn't require him to do much. He used to make a lot of plays with legs, now he sometimes makes plays with his arm. He's not now what he once was, and what he once was was not what some people think it was. I don't understand why Redskins fans have such an emotional attachment to a Philadelphia Eagle.
This is actually one of the reasons I feel Andy Reid is a top 5 coach...of all time. The perception of McNabb around the league is that he's an unstoppable force of nature, and you just have to hope to contain him. He's beaten tight coverage with his arm enough times to theoretically justify the fear he strikes into opponents. But all this has served to do is allow really simple plays like the screen and draws to work to perfection for Westbrook (a truly great player). So essentially, because people feel that McNabb is elite, defenses play very conservative against him in general, and the west coast works to perfection.

If defenses around the league would treat McNabb like a Roethlisberger or a Hasselbeck, it would allow them to defend some of Philly's bread and butter plays better. Yeah, McNabb would beat you deep every once in awhile (like he does anyway), but ultimately the Eagles offense would be less effective.

And I have to say, when you do a good enough job to distort reality not only in your only locker room, but around the entire league, thats not just good coaching, thats downright exceptional coaching that creates a decisive competitive advantage for your team.

Much more effective than videotaping signals.

Anyway, it's on GW this week to play his own game and not get beaten by Brian Westbrook.

Top 5 of all-time with no rings as a head coach?

Wow.
