Re: Willie Parker a Skin
I was thinking we should trade the second pick for Gaither or pick Jahvid Best. After Spiller this year's draft lacks running back talent IMO. This will keep us stable for another year and we could in a perfect scenario draft a guy like Ingram. This should be good for Portis if he stays with the team as he will have plenty of motivation.

Re: Willie Parker a Skin
Honestly, I do see this happening. Good, bad, or indifferent, we need to fill ARE's spot and he won't cost a lot to pick up.
Perhaps they feel they can wait until next yr to revamp the RB spot. Pick up the QB they want, get an OL, LB, and a FS. Then invite as many UFA OL and LB's to camp. |

Re: Willie Parker a Skin
Well yeah, I think that Parker is past his peak as well, speed was definitely a big part of his game. He was great to the outside, in the spread, etc. I think that Shanahan will take advantage of that. I mean he's not going to do to him what we did to Portis. LJ could definitely have a bigger impact since his runs might "mean more."

Re: Willie Parker a Skin
I rather draft a late round RB who could fill in on 3rd down and help in the return game. These three vets already have bruised egos. This won't be 'healthy' competition.

Diet, lose weight, start running alot. Incorperate P90x, and do a lot of short suttles/ sprints. It doesn't work out.... adios.

Re: Willie Parker a Skin
We have Thomas, Buchanen, Hall, Moss, and Alridge. Did I forget anyone? 5 guys who can return kicks. Why do you want another RB who can do it?

Re: Willie Parker a Skin
Thomas has shown promise in the return game. The others mentioned have yet to prove it for the Skins. A late round RB won't get a lot of reps behind veteran backs, so there's added value as returner.

Re: Willie Parker a Skin
So here's where we're at right now. We cut our old over paid RBs and picked up old under paid RBs. Not bad, not bad. An anti-Cerrato move. I'm not convinced that these guys are going to be on the roster anyway. We might keep two of the three, but I have a feeling that Shann-a-Allen will find a good RB under the radar in the back part of the draft, or bring in an UDFA. Either way, I'm very excited and enthusiastic about how our front office is working now. This was long overdue.

Re: Willie Parker a Skin
You may be right. Whatever his strategy was, I'm glad it's no longer employed in Ashburn.

Now that we have a full stable of RB's I just don't see the need to go out this year and pick up a RB, WR, or CB in this yrs draft. Especially when he have drastic need of a more accurate QB. You guys talk of picking up a 2nd round QB, hell we can't get our late 1st round QB to become a franchise QB. We have Grossman who was a late 1st round QB. Some have mentioned picking up a mid round QB after picking up 2 OL. We have a mid round QB in Colt. We don't need one of those either. I'll even do you one better... we have an UFA in Bartel. The only thing we don't have is a top 5 drafted QB. I think I'd rather take a stab at that now. Especially since none of the others are franchise QB's. After QB we can pick up OL in round 2. Maybe we get to trade back then if someone see's something they like? If not OL. Jarmin is our 3rd pick. Pick a 3/4 LB in the 4th round. OL in the 5th. FS in the 7th. |
