there has to be a willingness to stay here and get it done. I always feel that if the team wants a certain player to be here, they will be here.

I think, generally, this is the case but not when excessive amounts of money come in to play. This was a win-win for both Doc and the Redskins. Doc got paid and has no worries for his financial future and the Redskins didn't grossly overpay one player (who would have thought?).

So far, I'm liking the offseason spending and player acquisition. They are showing a lot more restraint and careful consideration as opposed to last year. I think they'll wait a while to pick up a guard, maybe on into summer.

The sentence in that article could mean 12mil guaranteed w/in the first 3 years.

Yeah that's probably it, it just wasn't worded very well.

Win for Dock. I think in regards to stability to our Oline it is a loss though. I hope we can get someone who will come in and we dont miss a beat. But, i think that will be hard to find will all the good Oline man gone, with huge contracts mind you. We may find out that the guy we resigned earlier turns out to be pretty good, but we will have to wait and see. I hope we dont wait until training camp begins to fill the hole. I would like to see us sign someone soon so they can come in and get a jump on learning his teammates and the system.

over a year ago dock was already dodging questions about re-signing. it shouldn't shock anyone here he was waiting on a pay day.

56 - if we kept him, we'd end up letting multiple other pieces go next year. every huge signing affects your future flexibility in a negative way.

the skins did the right thing here. let's move on.

Could you please give your links to what you have stated like they are facts.
1. How do you know that we did not try and sign him durn the year? Link
2. How do you know as a fact that we only offered him 12mil 3yrs? Link that knows this for a fact and not just a rumor.

The reason I say this is your jumping all over the front office for things that you have know idea are true or not and I see this all the time here on this site. We need to wait to hear the facts before we come to any conclusions.

I do not recall any articles or posts that suggested we attempted to sign him during the season, I could be wrong.

I wasn't the one who suggested the 3 yrs 12 million. I have never really seen what our offer was. I went along with what was posted here. but I read something someone said that the 12 million may have been the guaranteed amount over the first 3 years, which makes more sense.

as far jumping on the front office, why not?! Our front office has been less than spectacular over the last several years. They deserve to be critisized for some of the moves they have made recently. The front office are the ones making the calls on who we sign and dont sign, and who we overpay, and who we try to lowball. Who else would be held accountable?
(front office = Gibbs, Williams, Saunders, Danny, Vinny) they all make the decisions, so no one is above the backlash.

Rather than continuing to dig at the past let's look at right now, the front office is finally showing some financial restraint. Let's at least give them some credit for that. In this overpriced market the Skins are taking a backseat, that's pretty refreshing if you ask me.

I'd be much more pissed if they gave Dockery anything in the neighborhood of 7 years, $49M.

I agree. no way we should have signed him to that deal. I agee with everyone that has said that. If he was infact waiting for his payday, then he got it. I just wish we could have kept him thats all. I think my posts get misinterpritted. I would never pay a guy (unproven guy) that much money. I just felt, like I have said before, we overpay for a lot of outside guys, it would be nice to overpay for one of our own, to keep him here. Now, having said that, not to the extent the bills paid. maybe dockery didn't want to be here no matter what and I tend to go with that philosphy right now, and nothing would have kept him here. But, dont you agree that we have let certain players leave that should have stayed to overpay for the FA, the outside guy.

But, it does take two to get an agreement done and I know that. So, point is, we have to fill the hole with another FA because we dont have any picks. I just hope who ever fills that hole isn't a swinging door.

Totally TG. How many times has somebody posted that they wish we acted like the Pat's, etc. Well...............we just did, and and I' damn happy with the Joe2, and the FO for it! The teams laying down the train load of jack for these guys will regret it. How many times have we been in their shoes?
Doc was an adequate player leaning to pretty good. VERY replaceable

Spending is up about 30% over last year, so even if you take into account that 30% increase we're talking about a deal worth around $34M for Dockery a year ago. That's still way too much for him.
